Job Description

Under the supervision of the ASC Nurse Manager, the RN Lead serves as a primary point of contact for clinical colleagues and onsite providers, for workflow and clinical and operational questions. The RN Lead may be assigned to departments or locations based on business needs. The RN Lead will provide direct patient care as determined by the clinical needs in the department, including during urgent and emergent clinical scenarios.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical oversight to patients undergoing procedures in the procedure suite
  • Assist with radiofrequency/rhizotomy/nerve ablations, or other procedures as determined by the performing physician
  • Administers medications as ordered and in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Responds to emergency events in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Perform pre-procedure screening assessments for all patients scheduled to determine procedure room eligibility, confirm allergies/reactions, and provide medication instructions, answer any pre-procedure questions, and escalate any concerns to the provider
  • Perform appointment reminder and post-procedure patient phone calls
  • Escalate patient safety concerns to medical provider and ASC Nurse Manager

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Oversee restocking, reordering, and outdates of supplies and medications
  • Ensure all necessary emergent and non-emergent supplies, medications, and equipment are readily available.
  • Adjust or update the schedule as needed in response to absences or changes in operational needs.
  • Serves as a first line clinical resource for staff, addressing low-level complaints, answering questions and bringing clinical and operational issues to the ASC Nurse Manager, if warranted.
  • Partners with the ASC Nurse Manager to develop and implement workflows and policies.
  • Partners with the ASC Nurse Manager to review quality measures and develop workflows that support achievement of performance goals.
  • Provide observations and operational feedback to the ASC Nurse Manager regarding workflow, training needs, and colleague development opportunities
  • Fosters a collaborative team-oriented environment that promotes motivation, productivity, and a positive team culture.
  • Review onboarding competencies in partnership with Go-to Trainer (GTT).
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies.
  • Perform other duties to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Education

  • ADN or BSN from an accredited institution.

License/Certifications:

  • Unencumbered active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Maine.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire.

Experience

  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Previous procedure or operating room experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates effective decision making and uses sound judgment in high pressure situations.
  • High level of critical thinking and assessment skills.
  • Experience in continuous quality improvement and/or Lean Six Sigma preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond to rapidly changing, sometimes acute patient care needs.
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft applications, BI reporting services and electronic medical record (EMR) experience preferred.

Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. Certain positions may be eligible for incentive compensation plans above and beyond base compensation.
