Job Description

Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Midwife to join their team in a casual capacity.

This position provides family-centred midwifery care in collaboration with other health professionals and significant others to ensure safe, efficient and effective patient management within the Women's Unit.

Salary range: $41.73 - $53.53 per hour plus Casual loading, plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

Your experience and skills will see you become an integral part of the team that is committed to delivering outstanding nursing and midwifery care and services, improving the experience and outcomes for patients.

Specifically, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, woman-centred maternity care using sound nursing and midwifery clinical judgement
  • Partner with women and their support people to provide care that respects individual, cultural and personal needs
  • Conduct comprehensive antenatal and postnatal assessments and develop care plans aligned to expected outcomes
  • Monitor maternal and foetal wellbeing throughout admission and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe care
  • Coordinate discharge planning, including patient education, resources and appropriate community supports
  • Work effectively within a diverse care environment, delegating appropriately within scope of practice

About you

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following criteria:

Required

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Midwife
  • Currency of neonatal resuscitation, PROMPT or MEM equivilent
  • Minimum of one year of postgraduate experience, including in birth suites
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and clinical problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued quality improvement and best practice principles

Desired

  • Currency of K2 Perinatal Training through an approved provider
  • FSEP (Fetal Surveillance Education Program)
  • Other postgraduate qualifications in relevant nursing and midwifery speciality or working towards (e.g. lactation consultant)

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
