About the role

Are you a dynamic Registered Midwife (RM) looking for flexible, casual opportunities within Mater Mothers to make a lasting impact? We are currently seeking passionate and experienced RMs to join our casual pool, supporting high-performing teams across a range of specialised units at our new Mater Hospital Springfield facility:

  • Birth Suites
  • Pregnancy Assessment Unit (PAC)
  • Maternity Inpatients

Based at our Mater Mothers Hospital Springfield, these roles are a part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare which opened in early 2026. As Mater’s newest public hospital, this state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With 174 public beds, ICU, maternity, emergency and surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

As a Level 4 maternity service, we are planning to care for approximately 1,700 women and families each year, providing care for women experiencing low to moderate risk pregnancies. Clear referral pathways are established with Mater Mothers’ Hospital South Brisbane for women requiring higher-level care.

Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour plus 25% casual loading plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

The Registered Midwife performs all aspects of patient care including patient advocacy with particular consideration to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each patient and family in a safe, efficient and patient focussed manner contributing to optimal patient outcomes.

About you

You will have a minimum of 12 months full time experience in the relevant area as a Registered Midwife:

  • Current AHPRA nursing / midwife registration with no restrictions
  • Considerable demonstrated experience the area in which you are applying for
  • High level skills in problem-solving, communication, coordination and time management
  • The ability to contribute effectively and efficiently within a busy, multidisciplinary team environment
  • While not essential, applicants who currently have or are studying towards a tertiary qualification within the relevant clinical speciality would be highly regarded

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
