Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home

📍 Crook, County Durham, UK

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead a newly opened, high-spec residential provision for children and young people.

This is a unique chance to shape and lead a specialist service, providing bespoke, trauma-informed care for a young person with complex emotional and behavioural needs—making a lasting and meaningful difference in their life.

About the Role

As Registered Manager, you will take full responsibility for the leadership, management, and day-to-day operations of a residential children’s home. You will create a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance are consistently achieved.

Working with a dedicated 3:1 staffing model, you will lead by example—championing the rights, choices, and wellbeing of the young person while building a strong, supportive team culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop a skilled residential care team
  • Provide strong leadership, supervision, and mentorship to staff
  • Create a safe, stable and nurturing environment for the young person
  • Deliver and embed trauma-informed care practices
  • Promote positive behaviour through approaches such as PACE and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
  • Oversee care planning, safeguarding, and risk management
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory standards
  • Build effective partnerships with local authorities, education providers, health professionals and families
  • Manage complex behaviours and respond effectively to crisis situations
  • Maintain high standards within the home environment
  • Prepare for and exceed expectations during inspections and monitoring visits
  • Support the young person in daily routines, activities, and appointments

What We’re Looking For

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a senior role within a children’s residential setting
  • Proven experience supporting young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and solo provision care
  • Excellent leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • A resilient, reflective and compassionate approach
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and regulatory requirements
  • Full UK driving licence
