Service (‘Children’s Home’/’’Specialist Education’, Mainstream Education’, ‘Family Services’,’ Supported Living’): Children’s Home 🏠
Service Users: (‘YPs’ or ‘16 to 24’ and EBD, LD, Complex Physical Needs, SEMH, CCE, CSE, PSB): YPs – emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties (therapeutic/trauma-informed provision) 🌱
Qualifications Required: Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Residential Childcare / Children’s Workforce (or equivalent) OR Level 5 Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards Level 5 within 2 years) 🎓
Experience in Years Required: Minimum 2 years’ experience in Residential Children’s Social Care (ideally Deputy/Senior level) + at least 1 year in a management/supervisory role ✅

An experienced, nurturing and values-led Registered Manager who can lead a therapeutic children’s home day-to-day, safeguard children and staff, and deliver high-quality outcomes in line with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.

Key responsibilities include:
Lead and develop a quality therapeutic service for young people
Ensure the home meets/exceeds Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and relevant legislation
Build strong relationships with young people, families and professionals
Provide effective, empathetic and dynamic leadership
Promote staff wellbeing and manage vicarious trauma within the team
Embed reflective practice and therapeutic thinking in care and recording
Maintain a robust Statement of Purpose and strong regulatory paperwork
Manage rota planning with staff wellbeing and cover contingencies in mind
Deliver meaningful supervisions, mentoring, inductions and training
Participate in recruitment, performance, HR processes (with operational support)
Ensure H&S compliance (fire, medication, vehicles, premises)
Manage budgets and financial controls in line with company procedures
Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota when required 📞
Essential skills & requirements:
Residential children’s care experience (minimum 2 years; ideally Deputy/Senior)
Minimum 1 year in management/supervision
UK Driving Licence 🚗
Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and associated legislation
Therapeutic/trauma-informed understanding (PACE advantageous or willingness to learn)
Clear DBS and positive references ✅
Confident leadership style: able to challenge, guide, mentor and set boundaries calmly
