Short Description

  • Performs cardiac ultrasound tests (including stress echo’s and transesophageal echo’s) in accordance with the American Society of Echocardiography and department policies. Ability to comply with IAC standards. Demonstrates a full knowledge of cardiac ultrasound practice and the usage of digital ultrasound equipment. Completes daily scheduled tests in appropriate time frame and to population specific group
  • Ability to prepare the patient and explain the procedure. Ability to navigate through an electronic medical record. Ability to comply with Joint Commission standards and regulatory readiness.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize work assignments on a daily basis. Ability to corroborate patient’s clinical history with procedure assuring appropriateness for the test requested. Ability to provide Cardiologists with the appropriate information necessary for interpretation.
  • Ability to participate and comply with on-call rotation as required.
  • Ability to communicate to manager and/or Cardiologists problems associated with patient, procedure. Adheres to department policy on reporting and documentation of critical values.
  • Maintains equipment in a clean and functional manner on a daily basis. Ability to process TEE probe.
  • Demonstrates active Adult Echocardiography registry with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Cardiovascular Credentialing International. Ability to maintain 5 CME credits annually for IAC standards.
  • Complies with all aspects of regulatory readiness.
  • Performs other duties within the cardiac services department as needed.

0-2 years experience

Education Requirements

High School/GED required, preferred Associates or Bachelors in Cardiac Sonography

Special Requirements

RDCS or RCS required

Registry obtained within 1 year of hire
