Job Description

Performs Echo imaging studies in accordance with physician orders and departmental guidelines. Prepares and transports patients as necessary. Prepares imaging equipment, room, and images, as needed for interpretation. Verifies and completes studies in RIS and PACS. Maintains Quality Control on equipment as instructed.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete studies including M-Mode, Real Time, Color Flow Mapping, and Doppler.

• Obtains permanent records of examinations.

• Participates in reading studies with physicians and contributes professional knowledge to the final diagnostic impression or report.

• Performs daily recording, copying, and filing of examinations performed.

• Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.

• Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.

• Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.

• Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Education

• Associate's Degree required.

• Graduate of an accredited program with an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Cardiac Sonography degree, or certified by a certificate program in Cardiac Sonography; OR

• Graduate of an accredited Radiography program with an A.A.S. degree; OR

• On-the-job training with demonstrated competence in Cardiac Sonography.

Experience

• Up to one (1) year of experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Basic computer skills.

• Must be able to comply with hospital on-call requirements.

Licenses & Certifications

• Certification through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or equivalent approved organization required.

• Current CPR certification required.
