Registered Dietitian or Certified Diabetes Educator

One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.
We are currently seeking a contract 1 FTE Registered Dietitian (RD) or Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) who as a valuable member of the Community Health Centre team will provide individual and group diabetes education programs and work collaboratively within an interprofessional model of care team.
The position has a competitive salary, the Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan, and an excellent group health benefits package.
The salary range for this position is from $66,573 to $76,875 per year. We currently do not use AI to screen resumes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Registered Dietitian, with current registration in good standing with The College of Dietitians of Ontario. OR Registered Healthcare Professional with a certified Diabetes Citification with current registration in good standing with their respective college, for example the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Experience in supporting individuals with complex chronic diseases with self-management of education skills is required.
• Experience with adult learning principles and motivational interviewing training is an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, group facilitation and teaching skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with an interprofessional team.
• Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within populations who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured).
• Knowledge and proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel/MS Word) and electronic medical record system experience.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends may be required.
• Valid driver’s license, and ability to travel to outreach sites in Thunder Bay and the Kakabeka Site with a company vehicle may be required.
