DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY: The Clinical Nutrition and Diabetes Department provides services in the inpatient, outpatient, and community setting.
The Registered Dietitian at St. Charles Health System participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary patient care team to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy and education to meet the needs of identified patient population.
This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Assesses patients’ nutritional needs and implements and monitors appropriate nutrition care plan in a variety of inpatient settings.
Works closely with healthcare providers, patients, and families to provide appropriate nutritional care for all patients.
Stays current in nutrition knowledge as applied to patient populations.
Provides individual and group nutrition education in either inpatient or outpatient settings, or both.
Performs nutritional assessment using age appropriate standards, utilizing validated assessment tools and includes nutrition related diagnosis when indicated.
Develops an intervention plan which includes appropriate feeding route, mode, and nutrition prescription.
Documents all patient care with proficiency in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory agencies.
Leads or assists in approved quality improvement projects or participates in an active committee.
Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests.
Supports training and development of co-workers and when precepting interns.
Flexibility in working hours, days, and facilities for weekend and vacation coverage, for a variety of registered dietitian positions.
Participates in creating intentional relationships and demonstrates focus attitudes and behaviors that enhance the care experience.
Complete competency checklist annually.
Present on 1 case study per year.
Complete 15 CEU’s per calendar year.

EDUCATION
Required Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, plus completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics approved internship.
Preferred: Master’s degree
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Required Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration required. Current Oregon Licensure by the Commission on Dietetic Registration required. Licensed Dietitian by the Oregon Health Licensing Agency; or qualify for a Registered Dietitian certification within 3 months of being hired with St. Charles Health System.

Demonstrated ability and experience in computer applications, use of electronic medical record keeping systems and MS Office.
