Job Description

This position will aid in the oversight of the Lee Roy Selmon Athletics Center fueling station and any satellite fueling stations, as well as team nutrition education, in-season fueling plans, menu writing (as needed), cooking classes, etc.

  • Management of the education, counseling, and fueling for assigned teams; including initial nutrition assessment meetings, follow ups, team talks, food demos, locker room snack orders, etc.
  • Assist the full-time Sports Dietitians to incorporate real-time meal education during assigned meal period, cooking demos, hydration management.
  • Conduct and analyze sweat tests for assigned sports teams as needed.
  • Body composition analysis and planning
  • Provide hydration recommendations based on sweat tests collected via Sweat Patch or MX3 analysis.
  • Completion of pre- and post-competition catering orders as well as setting up and breaking down performance nutrition stations.
  • Development of menus needed for athletic dining per individual team needs.
  • Assessment of nutritionally relevant lab work and recommend supplement prescriptions related to: CBC w/ differential, iron panels, Vitamin D, B12, or other performance related vitamins or mineral lab tests.
  • Oversight of assigned teams’ nutrition budget and product management for each team’s individual needs.
  • Manage product inventory: including ordering, receiving, storing, and distribution to the fueling station, teams, and athletic facilities as needed.
  • Onboard and train new employees which include Fueling Station Managers, Dietetic Interns, Federal Work Study students, and volunteers.
  • Assist in development and continuous improvement of nutrition education materials and resources and write monthly newsletter for staff, students, and coaches.
  • Examine and translate scientific research related to nutrition, athletic performance and dietary supplements.
  • Assist the sports dietitians in performing various administrative duties, including but not limited to budget and purchasing card management.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the sports nutrition staff.

  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to schedule changes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all members of the Performance Staff and other athletic department personnel
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Canva to assist in creation of education materials and presentations
  • Knowledge and understanding of NCAA bylaws

Minimum Qualifications:

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or related field with at least one year of directly related position-specific experience.
  • Licensed as Licensed Dietician or Licensed Nutritionist according to Florida Statutes 468.501 -468.518 (Part X) and/or Registration with the American Dietetic Association.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in Dietetics or Nutrition.
  • One-year previous sports nutrition experience.
  • Commitment to working non-traditional work hours including evenings and weekends
  • Desire to pursue a career in sports nutrition
