The Registered Dietitian provides comprehensive nutrition assessment, education, and counseling to prenatal patients within the Comprehensive Prenatal Services Program (CPSP), working collaboratively with medical providers, CPSP counselors, and an interdisciplinary care team to develop individualized care plans that support optimal maternal and fetal health outcomes. This role ensures delivery of high-quality, compliant nutrition services in accordance with Federal, State, and Los Angeles County CPSP standards while supporting program implementation, documentation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. The Registered Dietitian also contributes to program development and expansion, maintains effective communication with internal teams and external partners including the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and serves as a key resource to promote coordinated, patient-centered care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with providers and CPSP counselors to identify and connect with patients in need of nutrition counseling.
- Establishes treatment plans and communicates with patients regarding program compliance.
- Meets directly with patients to identify educational needs; provide individual instruction, utilize informational handouts/booklets, or refer to community resources as needed.
- Identifies ways to improve care of patients, and make recommendations to the Medical Director
- Participates in various patient program committees; Performs research and recommends ways to expand and improve nutrition programs.
- Responsible for implementation and integration of CPSP Program including nutrition,
- Responsible for ensuring the integrity and quality of the health services delivered in Comprehensive Prenatal Services and in compliance with Federal, State, and L.A. County Standards and individual site policies, procedures and protocols.
- Represents the clinic in all matters dealing with the delivery of these services and works closely with the Clinic Administrator and consultants as well as with the medical providers to develop and implement the goals and objectives of the CPSP programs and Nutrition Services.
- Responsible for providing assessment, documentation and for the CPSP program
- Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health - Comprehensive Prenatal Services Program.
- Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement plans for site and program.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of women's health prevention, OB/GYN family practice programs, CPSP, Family PACT, and CHDP programs.
- Knowledge of budget and grant management and program evaluation methods.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or related field required. Must have R.D.
- Ability to be a team player; support and assist team members;
- Ability to relate and communicate well to all cultural and ethnic groups in the community; Bilingual preferred.

- Subject to a criminal background check prior to employment;
- Valid California Driver License and automobile insurance coverage;
