Job Title: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
Location: White Plains, New York
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: Day Shift | Monday–Friday | Hours Vary | On-Call Required
Pay Range: $40.91–$61.37 per hour

A leading healthcare organization is seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist to join its Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.

Working under the direction of an invasive cardiologist and nursing leadership, this position assists with diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac, electrophysiology, and peripheral vascular procedures. The specialist will support procedures in scrub, monitoring, documentation, imaging, and circulating roles while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and procedural efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist cardiologists with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures
  • Support peripheral vascular and electrophysiology procedures
  • Prepare patients for cardiac, EP, and peripheral vascular procedures
  • Assist with patient care before, during, and after procedures
  • Prepare procedure rooms and obtain equipment based on physician preference
  • Serve in scrub, monitoring, documentation, imaging, and circulating roles
  • Interpret electrocardiograms and hemodynamic pressure tracings
  • Assist cardiologists with calculations and measurements used during diagnostic procedures
  • Review and document relevant patient information before, during, and after procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate procedural documentation
  • Assist with sheath removal, groin management, and post-procedure patient care
  • Assist with intra-aortic balloon pump troubleshooting and patient transport when needed
  • Support electrophysiology procedures and cardiac device implantation
  • Utilize specialized catheter-based imaging and diagnostic technologies, including:
    • Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS)
    • Intracardiac Echocardiography (ICE)
    • Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR)
    • Instantaneous Wave-Free Ratio (iFR)
    • Resting Full-Cycle Ratio (RFR)
    • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of interventional balloons, stents, guide catheters, and devices used in cardiac, EP, and peripheral procedures
  • Provide orientation and precepting to new cardiovascular specialists and clinical students as assigned
  • Perform quality-control activities and ensure equipment remains in proper working condition
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs when necessary
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of procedural supplies, surgical instruments, and equipment
  • Coordinate transport of used instruments to sterile processing according to infection-control and OSHA standards
  • Assist with billing processes and charge audits
  • Participate in the development and revision of departmental policies and procedures
  • Provide coverage across shifts and weekends based on department needs
  • Participate in the department's on-call rotation

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of a scrub technician training program, hospital-based training program, or qualifying post-secondary health science program
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification
  • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and procedural patient care
  • Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively
  • Ability to participate in an on-call schedule
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment

Qualifying health science education may include programs in:

  • Cardiovascular Technology
  • Radiologic Technology
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Nursing
  • Paramedic/EMT
  • Other related healthcare disciplines

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree
  • One or more years of cardiac technician, cath lab, or scrub technician experience
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) credential through Cardiovascular Credentialing International
  • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) credential
  • Previous Cardiac Cath Lab or Electrophysiology Lab experience
  • Experience with IVUS, ICE, FFR, iFR, RFR, or OCT
  • Experience assisting with cardiac device implants
  • Experience with peripheral vascular interventions
  • Previous preceptor or clinical training experience
