Location:

As a key member of the regional management team you will safely lead, manage and develop the technical departments in achieving continuous improvement in the quality of our products. You will provide expertise and support to the bakery operations in all of the sites audits; championing local and national project improvement initiatives and communicating and implementing best practice company standards.

Key Accountabilities

Drive a safety culture, improving and maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring all teams are aware and complying with health and safety standards, legal and company requirements.

To lead, motivate and develop the technical teams, ensuring all KPI’s are achieved. Ensuring that quality management systems, operating practices and process controls are developed, implemented and adhered to by staff to deliver adherence to company site standards, consistent quality performance and audit of hygiene standards.

Leading and advising the Southern teams on statutory regulations and company standards relating to site standards, food safety, quality and environmental hygiene.
To promote and develop technical competency and continuously challenge and improve technical operational effectiveness.

Partnering the site engineering managers and the Manufacturing Managers to develop PDP’s and other initiatives which enhance the manufacturing operation through reduced costs and improved quality particularly in areas such as process monitoring & control.

Ensure successful and safe NPD and EPD introduction into all sites in the Southern region, delivering compliance to product specifications.

Leading all customer, other auditing bodies’ and internal audits to ensure compliance and implementing any arising actions.

Effective management of Pest Control.

Build and develop effective relationships with the management team across the sites to ensure cross functional working and with the wider AMB technical team to ensure best practice is shared and the optimal performance of the function.

The Right Person

Functional Skills

  • At least 5 years experience in a technical role, preferably with management experience of leading teams in commercially challenging, results driven, food manufacturing environments.
  • Proven project management and audit skills.
  • Strong IT skills, with a knowledge of retailer web based systems; such as Hive, TQC, Evolve & SEDEX.
  • Graduate calibre with a food science qualification,
  • HNC/D or degree level equivalent.
  • Full UK drivers license required.
