Job Description
Tampa, FL | $140,000 - $160,000 Base Salary + Bonus & Benefits
About the Opportunity
A nationally recognized land development organization is seeking an Assistant Regional Director of Survey to lead survey operations across its Tampa region.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Florida Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PSM) who is ready to take the next step into regional leadership. The position will oversee survey operations in the Tampa area as well as a nearby Southwest Florida office, with responsibility for a small team of experienced survey professionals.
Despite the regional scope, this is a low-travel leadership position. The two offices operate effectively through virtual communication, with travel to the Southwest Florida office only occasionally required.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical surveying experience, proven leadership ability, and the communication skills necessary to work effectively with staff, management, clients, and project teams.
What You'll Do
- Lead and oversee survey operations across the Tampa region and Southwest Florida
- Manage, mentor, and develop survey staff across multiple offices
- Provide technical leadership and quality control for survey projects
- Manage project schedules, budgets, billing, and deliverables
- Maintain and develop client relationships
- Review, sign, and seal survey documents, including plot plans, as-builts, and legal documents
- Oversee survey processes, procedures, and technology
- Prepare and review project proposals
- Coordinate with internal engineering, land planning, construction, and development teams
- Support staff with technical guidance and problem-solving
- Help establish and maintain consistent standards for survey operations
- Communicate effectively with staff, management, clients, and other stakeholders
What We're Looking For
- Florida Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PSM) license required
- 5+ years of licensed surveying experience
- Strong background in land surveying, preferably within land development
- Previous experience leading, managing, or mentoring survey professionals
- Strong understanding of both field and office surveying procedures
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and common survey technology
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with field staff, technical professionals, management, and clients
- Strong understanding of survey quality control and project delivery
- Ability to stay current with evolving surveying technology and industry practices
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- $140,000 - $160,000 base salary, depending on experience
- Leadership responsibility across multiple survey operations
- Manage an established team rather than building a department from scratch
- Minimal travel to the Southwest Florida office
- Opportunity to influence regional survey operations and standards
- Strong career growth potential within a nationally recognized organization
- Comprehensive medical and dental benefits
- 401(k) with company match
- Employee stock purchase opportunities
- Additional employee discounts and benefits
The Ideal Candidate
This opportunity could be an excellent fit for a Senior Project Surveyor, Survey Manager, Survey Department Manager, or experienced PSM who is ready to take on broader operational responsibility.
If you're an experienced Florida PSM looking to move into a regional leadership role while remaining connected to the technical side of surveying, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
