Job Description

Electric Boat is seeking a highly skilled and qualified candidate to support the rapid growth within the Submarine Industrial Base. The cross-functional Regional Support Team has been established to assist in driving all Operational aspects of safety, quality, cost, and schedule within supplier’s facilities. The three-pronged approach of the team supports Focus Factories, Make to Buy, and the NNS Charleston Operations. This position is designed for Make to Buy and requires the flexibility to support any of the three onsite at the supplier. The selected candidate will report directly to the Regional Support Team Manufacturing Supervisor.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Directly supporting Purchasing, Program, and Engineering with onsite needs to help the suppliers solve deck plate problems through migitation initiatives.
  • Overseeing and assisting work execution of key shipbuilding principles safety, quality, cost, schedule, continuous improvement and lessons learned of a vendor.

Qualified applicants must possess a high degree of professionalism and ability for multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. Applicant must be able to support time-critical assignments and competent to interface with all levels of management, both internally and externally.

This position is based out of the Goose Creek, SC Regional Support Team Office, and may be eligible for relocation.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • A minimum of 8+ years of professional experience in operations management, engineering, program office, purchasing, or finance
  • Shipyard construction experience
  • Must be available to work all shifts and extended hours as business needs dictate (this can include working outside normal hours: evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, overtime, etc).
  • Must be available and flexible to travel, as required (75%) to travel to additional vendors, Groton, Quonset Point - business travel or EWA can be included.

Prefered:

  • Project management and team leadership experience
  • Apprenticeship through accredited organization
  • Experience in Modular Construction/outfitting
  • Experience in multi-trade disciplines is preferred (pipe, electrical, structural, mechanical)
  • Understanding of the outsouring plan and enterprise goals

Skills

  • Experienced in Computer Skills, MS Office/Word, Power Point and Project and ability to present information
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written with the proven ability to communicate with all levels of management
  • Self-starter and ability to adapt to an ever-changing production environment and business climate
  • Detailed construction readiness mindset with the ability to find gaps in in the end to end process
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative teaming environment with supervisors, suppliers and EB leadership
  • Must possess energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as requirements of assigned tasks dictate
  • Oversee and assist work execution of key shipbuilding principles safety, quality, cost, schedule, continuous improvement and lessons learned of a vendor
  • Gain the trust of the supplier management and embedded personnel through a consistent, and dedicated relationship to drive credibility to support enterprise needs
  • Proven project management skills with an understanding of the Integrated Master Schedule and overall CLB/VCS build process
  • Directly support Purchasing, Program, and Engineering with onsite needs to help the suppliers solve deck plate problems through risk mitigation initiatives
