As a Regional Sales Director, you’ll play a key role in growing retirement plan solutions for small‑market employers while representing a trusted industry leader.
The Vanguard Retirement Plan Access (VRPA) sales team partners with financial advisors to bring retirement plan recordkeeping and participant tools to small‑market employers. The Regional Sales Director is a field‑based sales role responsible for managing a defined territory and driving new 401(k) plan business for clients with up to $50M in assets. This role focuses on developing advisor relationships, identifying opportunities, and closing new business. The position is highly field‑oriented and requires frequent travel throughout the territory. The Regional Sales Director works in close partnership with an internal consultant to manage a shared advisor book and deliver coordinated sales coverage.
Responsibilities
Achieve established sales and retention goals through strategic selling activities, while providing leadership and guidance to extended sales team members and support partners to drive strong new business development.
Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to efficiently identify high‑quality business opportunities and leverage Vanguard capabilities for maximum success.
Partner with financial advisor organizations to raise awareness and drive adoption of Vanguard retirement solutions that help them meet their clients’ goals.
Effectively represent Vanguard’s investments and services to prospects, clients, and industry organizations through client and prospect meetings, industry conferences, and written, verbal, and electronic communication.
Leverage vendor partnerships to deliver comprehensive 401(k) plan solutions to prospective clients.
Build and maintain strong relationships with senior and executive leadership at prospect and client organizations, identifying needs and proposing appropriate Vanguard solutions.
Increase awareness of Vanguard’s investments and services through targeted prospecting and outreach activities.
Apply knowledge of market dynamics and the competitive landscape to position Vanguard solutions effectively.
Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability tooperateindependently in afield basedrole with travel requirements approximately 60% of the time.
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Eight to tenyearsfinancial services experience with three to five years of successful institutional sales experience preferred
Three to five years of successful institutional sales experience preferred.
Proven ability to think and perform strategically, bringing innovative solutions to complex client orprospectsituations.
Proven ability to successfully develop strong working relationships with executive management in theprospectorganization and internally within Vanguard.
Extensive knowledge of institutional investment offerings and/or retirement plan services and competitive landscape.
Strong knowledge of the institutional competitive environment, preferred.
Excellent executive presence,poiseand presentation skills.
Proven leadership and personnel development skills.
This job requires FINRA series 7 & 63 regulatory license and/or registration (e.g., FINRA, state, SFC). These will bedeterminedby Compliance based on role specific requirements and responsibilities.
