Job Description

A long-established fresh produce Wholesale Distributor & Importer in the northeast is looking for top sales talent to develop new customers and expand sales in the Northeast & New England area. This role has access to the company’s entire fruit and vegetable line, with priorities on their citrus & mango categories.

The right candidate is highly motivated, entrepreneurial and works well in a team environment. Working closely with a small management team, the successful candidate will be instrumental in building the Company’s long term growth strategy. The position can be based anywhere in Northeast region, with frequent business travel and regular time spent (at least weekly) in the company’s HQ in NYC.

In addition to a solid base salary, this role will also have strong performance incentives and full benefits.

Position Responsibilities Include

  • Seek out and develop new customers in the Northeast. Retail, (preferred) wholesale, broadline foodservice, etc.
  • Maintain sales targets and new customer growth.
  • Conduct customer meetings and presentations to independent, regional and national accounts.
  • Frequent travel as necessary to conventions, shows, and customer locations.

Required Experience & Qualifications Include

  • Previous successful track record developing and managing new sales accounts in fresh produce.
  • Strong fresh produce knowledge and background in a variety of fruit and vegetable categories. Citrus and/or tropicals preferred.
  • Established relationships with both national and northeast regional accounts.
  • Computer proficiency in ERP programs.
  • College degree (B.A. /B.S.) in related fields of study desired, or relevant experience in the produce industry.

The base salary the company may reasonably expect to pay for this role is $100,000 to $150,000. The actual salary for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s skills and experience. The base salary range does not include other compensation elements, which will compose the total compensation package, or other benefits available to the position.
