The Safety Director is directly responsible for managing the safety and risk associated with construction projects and company operations. The Safety Director will proactively plan, direct, and implement the Company’s environmental, health, and safety program to ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment. The Safety Director sets the tone for corporate safety and risk management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Develop, prepare, and implement Haydon’s environmental, health, and safety strategies and policies.
• Direct and supervise the general safety guidelines and procedures in the organization
• Develop and carry out safety training programs for company employees based on their trad
• Lead and direct department staff to successfully execute all safety initiatives
• Utilize safety analytics for implementing initiatives to reduce the level of work-related accidents and/or occupational hazards
• Ensuring that Lessons Learned database being utilized in prevention of future incidents, safety managers maintaining their logs, and providing education opportunities to operations teams at project kick-off, post incident, and as needed
• Perform and oversee investigation of accidents, injuries and unsafe working conditions to include interfacing with workers compensation claims and communication with injured workers and the return-to-work strategies. Cooperate in the preparation of material and evidence for organizational use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations. Provide recommendations for remedial action.
• Ensure that the entire workplace follows industry, state, and other company-related safety guidelines or rules
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules
• Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting
• Ensure compliance with corporate worker’s compensation program including working with internal personnel and third-party administrators/legal counsel, to effectively investigate and resolve claims in an expeditious and cost-effective manner

QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree: or six to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and safety programs. Thorough understanding of safety strategies and practices within construction. Thorough understanding of leading and developing a safety team.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to type, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
