Position Summary


Crystal Clean Maintenance is seeking a hands-on and results-driven Area Manager to oversee daily operations across Nova Scotia. This leadership role is responsible for managing janitorial operations, project work, floor care services including strip and waxing projects, staffing, customer relationships, labor performance, logistics, and service quality across multiple sites.


The ideal candidate is an organized and proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively balance project management, operational priorities, and client satisfaction while supporting frontline teams as needed.


Key Responsibilities


Leadership & Team Management


  • Lead, support, and hold supervisors and frontline staff accountable to company standards and operational goals

  • Provide coaching, training, performance management, and ongoing development to team members

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and workplace safety standards


Operations & Customer Service


  • Oversee daily janitorial operations and specialty project work across multiple sites

  • Manage floor care projects including strip and waxing services while maintaining regular janitorial operations

  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and account retention

  • Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally and promptly

  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure service quality and contract compliance

  • Ensure all deficiencies identified through inspections are corrected within 24 hours


Labor & Financial Management


  • Monitor and manage labor costs using company systems and scorecards

  • Coordinate staffing updates, payroll changes, terminations, and labor-related communication with HR and Administration

  • Assist with workforce planning, scheduling, and manpower allocation based on operational requirements and budgets


Logistics & Inventory Management


  • Oversee scheduling, route coordination, equipment deployment, and onboarding activities

  • Ensure all locations are properly supplied with equipment, inventory, and cleaning materials

  • Coordinate monthly inventory counts and supply ordering within approved budgets


Safety & Compliance


  • Maintain health and safety standards across all assigned locations

  • Identify operational, maintenance, or safety concerns and implement corrective actions as required


Requirements


Qualifications


  • Previous experience in operations management, janitorial management, or leadership roles preferred

  • Experience managing project work, including floor stripping and waxing operations

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple sites, projects, and priorities simultaneously

  • Experience with scheduling, labor management, and team supervision

  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities

  • Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions

  • Valid Class 5 Nova Scotia driver’s license with no restrictions required

  • Must be able to provide a clean driver’s abstract upon hiring

  • Ability to pass a Federal criminal background check


Physical Requirements


  • Ability to lift, stand, bend, and travel between work sites as required

  • Willingness to assist operationally at sites when needed
