Job Description

Baystate Health is seeking a Regional Medical Staff Specialist to play a critical role in supporting the medical staff of Baystate Franklin Medical Center (BFMC) and Baystate Wing Hospital (BWH)

In this highly visible role, you'll serve as the primary liaison between physician leaders and hospital administration, ensuring medical staff operations are efficient, compliant, and aligned with the highest regulatory standards. RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the Regional Medical Staff Specialist, you will provide operational leadership and administrative oversight for key medical staff functions across two community hospitals while serving as backup support for Baystate Noble Hospital when needed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner with physician leaders and serve as staff support to the Medical Executive Committee, Administrative Affairs Committee, and other medical staff committees.
  • Coordinate Annual and Semi-Annual Medical Staff Meetings and other governance meetings, including agenda preparation, meeting logistics, minutes, and follow-up.
  • Manage backend credentialing processes, Board of Trustees approvals, and provider compliance activities.
  • Monitor expired credentialing documentation and coordinate provider suspensions when required to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements, including The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS, Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), and applicable state licensing boards.
  • Provide guidance to medical staff leaders on medical staff bylaws, policies, and governance matters.
  • Oversee two Medical Staff Office budgets and two medical staff cost center budgets, including dues processing, financial reporting, and Treasurer's reports.
  • Coordinate physician recognition awards, correspondence, research projects, and special initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Baystate's Central Verification Organization (CVO), Legal Department, physician leadership, and hospital administration to support safe, effective medical staff operations.

  • Full-time
  • Monday through Friday
  • No weekends, no holidays

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a Medical Staff Office or related healthcare environment, required
  • Strong knowledge of medical staff operations, credentialing, and healthcare regulatory requirements
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and database systems
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
