Performance Expectations

  • The RMM is accountable for taking a highly collaborative approach to working with the Regional Marketing Director, Regional Managing Partner (RMP), and service and client group leaders within the Markham region to understand their business objectives and translate these into marketing and business development strategies, plans and activities that drive brand awareness, positioning, engagement, and revenue opportunities.
  • Work with and adhere to firm processes and best practices, including the use of consistent marketing, BD, CRM, and budget templates.
  • Obtain plan approval, develop and lead the implementation of all office-, client group-, and service-specific marketing and BD strategies, programs and activities for the Toronto North region to support client retention, targeted pursuit plans, cross‑selling, and referral mapping.
  • Develop creative campaign briefs and lead concept development phases in alignment with MNP brand standards.
  • Measure, understand and report on the impact of marketing and BD activities, including lead tracking, pipeline progression, and opportunity conversion. Analyze reporting and make recommendations or adjustments to plans and programs where required.
  • Manage and monitor the region’s marketing budgets, analyzing variances between planned and actual spend and recommending corrective actions as necessary.
  • Identify, negotiate, and manage strategic sponsorships of all sizes within the Toronto North marketplace.
  • Organize client and prospect programs in conjunction with internal resources, including events, webinars, and targeted outreach initiatives.
  • Maintain brand and positioning across MNP Toronto North properties and utilize marketing materials, collateral, promotional items, and tradeshow equipment.
  • Understand vendor arrangements and develop and maintain those relationships.
  • Build strategic alliances and foster marketing and BD relationships with key stakeholders in the external Toronto North marketplace.
  • Develop strong relationships with key internal stakeholders (e.g., RMP, regional niche/service line leaders, Partners, Client Service Teams).
  • Build profile and relationships in the Toronto North marketplace, including with local influencers, media, associations, and community organizations through attendance at local events.
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes while effectively using MNP internal programs and systems.
  • Conduct regional marketing and BD intelligence activities such as understanding the competitive environment, MNP market share, client trends, and brand positioning in Toronto North. Awareness of changes to the regional marketplace, study economic indicators in Toronto North, and identify current and future market trends.
  • Provide overall direction for the regional marketing team and set expectations for team performance. Develop, coach, and mentor team member toward professional and personal development. Ensure a high standard of performance by providing regular feedback to direct reports and conducting formal, written annual performance reviews.
  • Promote regular attendance, balanced lifestyle, and a high standard of team wellness.

Business Development & Inside Sales Responsibilities

  • Support the RMP and Partners in developing priority account lists (clients and prospects) for Toronto North.
  • Assist Client Service Teams in creating and managing annual account plans for key accounts.
  • Conduct ongoing needs analysis across functional and divisional levels to identify opportunities for service enhancements or upgrades.
  • Work with Partners to develop new contacts within accounts to ensure growth and leverage business opportunities.
  • Consult with Client Service Teams on services to identify opportunities, enhancements, or upgrades.
  • Create and manage client development programs that strengthen relationships and drive retention and growth.
  • Leverage client data to identify opportunities for client expansion.
  • Support activation and change management initiatives to embed a BD culture across Markham and GTA Advisory.
  • Support Partners on targeted outreach to clients identified for cross‑selling or expansion opportunities.

Skills and Experience

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a marketing, business development, inside sales, or account management capacity, with a demonstrated understanding of the entire marketing and BD process.
  • Experience working in a professional services environment or marketing agency environment considered an asset.
  • Understanding and experience working in the Toronto North marketplace is an asset.
  • Understanding of how to build and reinforce effective working relationships within and across teams and with key stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Possess strong presentation, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Possess business development skills and knowledge, including lead generation, qualification, and opportunity management.
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of CRM systems, database marketing software, and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Analytical mindset for market research, pipeline tracking, and opportunity analysis.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills to support revenue growth and client retention.
  • Ability to coach and mentor others on BD and marketing best practices.
  • A valid driver’s license is necessary as travel may be required.
