Job Summary

The Regional Manager: External Sales is responsible for driving sustainable business growth through the execution of regional sales and distribution strategies. The role focuses on client acquisition, market penetration, business development, and relationship management across key external stakeholder groups. Through strategic networking, influencing, and partnership development, the incumbent will support in expanding our points of presence, drive integrated channel growth, and deliver commercial outcomes aligned to regional objectives.

The role plays a critical part in executing Integrated Channels and Gauteng Souths distribution strategy by leveraging multiple channels, strategic partnerships, employer relationships, and community networks to maximise client acquisition opportunities and strengthen market share.

Job Description

Key Requirements:

• Relevant NQF8 qualification in Business, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
• Proven track record in business development, sales leadership, and revenue growth.
• Strong understanding of external sales, client acquisition, and distribution channel management with a proven track record of strong stakeholder relationship management experience
• Demonstrated ability to build, influence, and maintain strategic stakeholder relationships in Public Sector Business Unit within organisations.
• Extensive networking, negotiation, and influencing capabilities.
• In-depth understanding of the Gauteng economic environment, market dynamics, and growth opportunities.
• Proven success in developing and executing regional sales strategies.
• Minimum 5 years leadership and people management experience.
• Strong understanding of retail banking products, sales ecosystems, and integrated channel delivery models.
• Established network within business, community, employer, and institutional sectors is advantageous.

Business Performance:

• Drive regional sales growth, client acquisition, and business development strategies to achieve sustainable revenue and portfolio expansion in partnership with the Regional Leadership team.
• Identify and convert new business opportunities through strategic partnerships, networking, and market engagement initiatives.
• Execute the integrated distribution strategy across multiple channels while monitoring market trends and strengthening market presence.

Stakeholder Management:

• Build and maintain strategic relationships with key business, government, employer, and community stakeholders.
• Influence and engage decision-makers to unlock growth opportunities and enhance market position.
• Collaborate across internal and external networks to drive client acquisition, business growth, and distribution objectives.

People Management:

• Lead, coach, and develop high-performing external sales teams to achieve regional growth targets.
• Foster a culture of sales excellence, business development, networking, and client-centricity.
• Drive accountability for performance, revenue delivery, pipeline management, and capability development.

Compliance and Risk Management:

• Ensure all sales and business development activities comply with regulatory, governance, and risk requirements.
• Maintain a robust control environment while delivering sustainable commercial growth.
• Uphold adherence to Absa policies, processes, and customer conduct standards.

Education

Bachelors Degree and Professional Qualifications: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
