Regional Director – AAC Sales & Clinical Operations

We are building a stronger, more scalable AAC organization and are seeking an experienced healthcare sales leader to lead regional growth across Texas and Illinois.

This is a hands-on, field-intensive leadership role responsible for sales performance, recruiting, coaching, strategic account development, referral growth, clinical workflow coordination, and cross-functional execution. The initial regional footprint spans Texas and Illinois and is centered around the Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago markets.

Frequent travel between markets, regular overnight travel, and a highly visible in-field leadership presence are essential to success in this position. This is not a primarily desk-based or remote-management role.

The Regional Director will lead the field sales team while working closely with Internal AAC Speech-Language Pathologists and operational support teams to help move referrals efficiently from initial opportunity through Medical Review and delivery.

Compensation & Earning Opportunity

  • Base Salary
  • $100,000 annually
  • Territory Growth Commission
  • Uncapped performance-based commission on qualified deliveries above the territory's established production baseline.
  • TX / IL Earning Illustration
  • At the mature planning target for the territory of qualified deliveries/month, illustrative annual cash compensation is approximately $196,000 before accelerator compensation, benefits, and expense reimbursement.
  • Growth Accelerator
  • Additional accelerator compensation is available for sustained performance above the established mature-market performance model, creating continued earning opportunity as the region grows beyond baseline maturity.

Commission and accelerator eligibility are subject to the current Company commission plan, qualified-delivery requirements, and any applicable territory assignment or compensation addendum.

What Success Looks Like

  • Build and lead a high-performing regional AAC team across Texas and Illinois.
  • Grow the region toward a mature operating target under the current approved mature staffing model.
  • Develop field representatives toward strong referral generation, account growth, and delivery performance.
  • Maintain a highly visible field leadership presence through ride-alongs, joint account visits, strategic-account development, coaching, recruiting, and direct performance intervention when needed.
  • Ensure field representatives are consistently working their assigned markets and developing meaningful relationships with SLPs, clinics, hospitals, rehabilitation programs, ALS programs, and other referral sources.
  • Work closely with Internal AAC SLPs to improve clinical documentation, referral progression, WIP movement, and timely handoff to Medical Review.
  • Use CRM, referral, WIP, field-activity, and delivery data to identify opportunities, address barriers, and drive measurable management action.
  • Anticipate staffing and clinical-capacity needs before growth impacts service levels, market coverage, or customer support.
  • Build a positive, supportive, accountable team culture focused on helping each representative succeed.

What You Will Own

  • Recruit, onboard, coach, develop, and retain field-based AAC sales representatives.
  • Provide leadership and coordination for Internal AAC SLP resources supporting the territory.
  • Set clear expectations and hold the regional team accountable for referrals, deliveries, account development, field activity, CRM discipline, and follow-through.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, field coaching, ride-alongs, joint account visits, and performance reviews.
  • Lead territory and strategic-account planning across Texas and Illinois.
  • Identify and develop high-value accounts, including major health systems, hospitals, rehabilitation programs, ALS programs, specialty clinics, and AAC centers.
  • Partner with the dedicated RM Speech Manufacturer Sales Representative supporting the region to strengthen product education, demonstrations, strategic-account development, and RM Speech product adoption.
  • Review referral trends, account productivity, WIP movement, delivery performance, staffing needs, and clinical capacity on a disciplined cadence.
  • Forecast regional performance and identify staffing, market-access, clinical, or operational constraints early.
  • Collaborate closely with Intake, Medical Review, Authorization, Logistics, Customer Support, Billing, Compliance/Quality, HR, Finance, and executive leadership.
  • Communicate clearly with executive leadership regarding performance, risks, opportunities, corrective actions, and resource needs.
  • Support conferences, in-services, demonstrations, recruiting, and regional market-development activities as needed.

Field Presence, Travel & Territory Demands

  • Approximately four business days per week in the field are generally expected, equating to approximately 16-18 meaningful field days per month. This is an operating expectation, not a ceiling.
  • Frequent travel throughout Texas and Illinois is required, including regular overnight travel between Dallas-Fort Worth, Chicago, and other assigned markets.
  • Each active Field Sales Representative should receive at least one dedicated in-field coaching or ride-along day per month. Newly hired, developing, or underperforming representatives will generally require additional field time.
  • Every staffed market should receive direct Regional Director coverage at least monthly, with greater coverage where staffing, growth, performance, recruiting, or strategic-account needs require it.
  • Travel allocation will follow market opportunity, Field Representative headcount, production, performance needs, recruiting activity, strategic accounts, and other business priorities rather than being divided equally by state.
  • The Regional Director must reside in a Company-approved primary metropolitan market within the assigned territory, with Dallas-Fort Worth or Chicago preferred as the normal administrative and travel base.
  • As team size or geographic complexity increases, field presence, travel cadence, territory structure, and management capacity may be reassessed.

Leadership & Team Environment

Clear accountability matters, but this is a highly collaborative healthcare organization. The Regional Director is expected to create a culture where sales, clinical, reimbursement, and operational teams work together to solve problems while maintaining clear ownership and follow-through.

The goal is to give field representatives stronger local leadership, better clinical support, and the resources needed to spend more time developing relationships, generating referrals, supporting evaluations, and growing their markets.

Qualifications: Qualifications

  • Significant leadership experience in healthcare, medical device, DME, pharmaceutical, rehabilitation, or another complex field-sales environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading commissioned sales professionals and developing high-performing, geographically dispersed field teams.
  • Proven history of measurable sales growth, territory development, team performance improvement, or successful market expansion.
  • Strong recruiting, onboarding, coaching, performance-management, and employee-development skills.
  • Ability to coach sales professionals directly in the field through ride-alongs, joint account visits, account planning, and performance development.
  • Experience using CRM, sales analytics, forecasts, pipelines, referral activity, WIP, and operating metrics to make business decisions and drive accountability.
  • Strong financial and business judgment, including comfort with budgets, staffing decisions, resource allocation, productivity, and return on investment.
  • Strong executive communication, conflict-management, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across sales, clinical, reimbursement, operations, HR, finance, and executive leadership functions.
  • Ability to balance a supportive leadership approach with clear expectations, accountability, and timely performance intervention.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout Texas and Illinois, including regular overnight travel.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to independently travel throughout the assigned region.
  • Must reside within the assigned territory and be based in a Company-approved primary metropolitan market; Dallas-Fort Worth or Chicago is strongly preferred.

Preferred Differentiators

  • MBA, MHA, or other relevant graduate business or healthcare degree.
  • Speech-Language Pathology, AAC, rehabilitation, or other relevant clinical background.
  • Experience with speech-generating devices, AAC, DME reimbursement, assistive technology, or complex rehabilitation technology.
  • Experience working with SLPs, hospitals, rehabilitation programs, ALS programs, VA facilities, or other specialty clinical programs.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, project-management, or formal process-improvement training.
  • Experience successfully building, rebuilding, or scaling a multi-market or multi-state sales organization.
  • Experience recruiting and developing new field teams in growth markets.

Work Schedule & Travel

This is a full-time, exempt leadership position generally operating Monday through Friday. Because of the scope and seniority of the role, flexibility and availability beyond standard business hours may be required.

Early mornings, evenings, weekends, or additional hours may occasionally be necessary for travel, recruiting, employee coaching, customer needs, conferences, performance intervention, reporting, executive preparation, or other business priorities.

This is a results- and responsibility-based leadership role rather than one limited to a fixed daily schedule.

Approximately four business days per week in the field and 16-18 meaningful field days per month are generally expected, with frequent travel throughout Texas and Illinois and regular overnight travel between major markets.

The Regional Director should maintain a visible field presence and spend significant time working directly with field representatives, customers, referral sources, and strategic accounts.

Why This Opportunity

This is an opportunity to build and lead a regional AAC growth organization, not simply inherit a traditional sales-management position.

The Regional Director will have meaningful influence over field sales performance, recruiting and team development, clinical support capacity, strategic-account growth, territory expansion, regional execution, and cross-functional improvement.

The organization is actively investing in stronger regional leadership, expanded Internal AAC SLP support, additional field coverage, improved technology and territory-planning tools, and dedicated RM Speech manufacturer support for high-value strategic accounts.

The compensation structure is designed so the Regional Director can participate financially in the measurable growth they help create, with uncapped earning opportunity and additional accelerator potential as the region grows beyond the established mature-market performance model.
