A Day in the Life

As a Regional Logistics Manager, you will independently design, manage, and continuously improve a regional sample transportation network that supports environmental laboratory operations. You will have direct authority over all couriers in your region, responsibility for local and interstate routing, and full accountability for regulatory compliance, fleet performance, and measurable cost and service outcomes.

This is a fast-paced management position with direct supervisory responsibility and hiring authority. The right candidate thrives under pressure, works with urgency, demands precision from themselves and their team, and is comfortable making decisions independently.

The compensation range for this role is $65,000 to $80,000, in addition to an annual bonus, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Centralize routing and dispatch operations across multiple laboratories and service centers
  • Optimize transportation routes, mileage efficiency, resource utilization and cost performance
  • Manage corridor-based, interstate and priority sample transport operations
  • Supervise regional courier teams, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling and performance management
  • Lead training initiatives focused on safety, regulatory compliance and service quality
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, chain-of-custody requirements and sample handling standards
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance, fleet compliance and vehicle utilization tracking
  • Monitor global positioning system (GPS) and telematics data to improve route efficiency and driving safety
  • Coordinate cross-laboratory sample and supply transfers while managing operational contingencies
  • Track and analyze key logistics performance indicators including on-time delivery, holding time compliance, overtime and route efficiency
  • Forecast workload and resource needs using operational data and performance trends
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce operating costs and improve service quality
  • Communicate operational expectations, performance results and service updates to internal stakeholders and customers

Your Expertise and Skills

These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or operations management
  • Direct supervisory experience managing drivers or field-based personnel, with a track record of maintaining high team standards
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance requirements
  • Hands-on experience with routing platforms, dispatch management systems, and telematics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability; rely on data to guide decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple locations simultaneously in a fast-moving environment
  • Clear, direct communication style; comfortable being straightforward and making tough calls when the situation requires it
  • Proven track record of implementing corrective action plans and driving measurable KPI improvement

Preferred

  • Familiarity with holding time requirements and preservation protocols
