Regional IT Business Partner (Director)

WSP has a unique leadership opportunity for a New Zealand IT Business Partner to join our global IT leadership team, acting as the critical link between IT and our New Zealand business.

This is a strategic and highly visible role where you’ll partner with senior leaders and executives to align technology solutions with business priorities, drive IT performance, and enable transformation across the region.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring IT delivers measurable value, enhances user experience, and supports the successful adoption of global initiatives.

This role can be based in either our Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch offices.

What you’ll be accountable for

Strategic partnership & stakeholder leadership

  • Build strong relationships with senior business leaders across the region
  • Align IT strategy, initiatives, and investments with business priorities
  • Represent IT in business forums and the business in IT governance forums

IT performance & service delivery

  • Oversee regional IT service performance and customer experience
  • Manage service issues and escalations, driving continuous improvement
  • Use feedback and metrics to improve service outcomes

Transformation & change enablement

  • Lead the regional adoption of global IT strategies, systems, and processes
  • Drive engagement and readiness for major IT transformation initiatives
  • Partner with change teams to embed new ways of working

Financial stewardship & demand management

  • Support IT financial planning, reporting, and cost optimisation
  • Drive prioritisation of IT demand aligned to business value
  • Ensure clear business cases and value realisation from IT investments

Risk, governance & compliance

  • Monitor KPIs and ensure alignment with global performance targets
  • Identify and manage risks, ensuring compliance with IT standards and policies

Innovation & AI enablement

  • Champion emerging technologies, including AI-driven solutions
  • Support the business to adopt digital tools that enhance productivity

About you

You’re a commercially minded IT leader with strong stakeholder engagement capability and a passion for driving business value through technology.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Proven track record in senior, stakeholder-facing IT roles, with the ability to influence at executive level

  • A minimum of 15+ years’ experience within Information Technology or a related field, including:

    • 7+ years in IT business partnering or business relationship management roles
    • 5+ years’ experience in financial management, including budget planning and financial reporting within an IT environment
  • Strong understanding of aligning IT strategy with business objectives and driving value from technology investments

  • Experience leading business transformation and organisational change, with a focus on adoption and outcomes

  • Solid grounding in IT governance, service delivery, and financial management

  • Excellent communication and engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex IT concepts into clear business language

  • Experience working within large, complex and/or multinational organisations highly regarded
