Job Description

Northwest Pump & Equipment is seeking a motivated, experienced Regional Industrial Sales Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical sales (ideally pumps and/or compressors), excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the industrial equipment market. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a proven track record of sales growth through effective and thoughtful management, that is looking for a new opportunity to drive the success of a leading, industrial distribution company.

This position will be based out of our Headquarters in Portland, OR, and will require travel to our other branches in WA, AK, ID, and MT, as well as for various factory training and sales meetings. You’ll have the exciting role of leading our Industrial Sales Team of 16 skilled and dedicated individuals, ensuring their efforts align with our strategic goals by fostering a supportive and high-performing environment.

What does this role do?

  • Talent management of sales team including recruiting, hiring, training, and performance management
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service and support to foster loyalty and repeat business
  • Provide technical guidance and support to customers and sales team
  • Maximize the effectiveness, growth, and profitability of the department to achieve company goals and objectives
  • Deliver profitable growth of the Industrial division’s market footprint through continual improvement of our product offerings, and penetration into new geographic or industrial markets
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans and forecasts to meet corporate goals
  • Analyze market conditions to provide effective coverage of our markets and vendors and to determine customer needs, price strategies, discount rates, and competitor activities and products
  • Direct channel development activities and establish sales territories, quotas, and goals
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of product offerings, their applications, industry developments and emerging technologies
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, service and applications to ensure seamless sales operations and effective marketing initiatives
  • Represent the company at trade association meetings
  • Prepare periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas for expansion
  • Deliver sales presentations and meet with key clients to maintain relationships
  • Recommend or approve budgets and expenditures

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, marketing, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in industrial sales; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven experience setting sales goals and holding sales team members accountable for achievement
  • Technical proficiency and the ability to understand complex industrial equipment
  • Experience managing a sales process using CRM systems
  • Supervisory experience with proven ability to lead a team to meet quotas
  • Excellent leadership, customer service, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to travel to manage a team spread out across the Western US
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook; internet skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels of customers and coworkers is essential; ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Must possess and maintain a safe driving record with valid driver's license

What else?

  • This is a full-time position, working regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Must be able to lift/ move up to 50 lbs., and up to 70 lbs. periodically
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and MVR check
