Job Description

Nexstar Media Group has an immediate opening for a Regional Human Resources Manager. The Regional Human Resources Manager provides operational and consultative human resources support for multiple Nexstar work locations. The HR Manager works in tandem with Regional Human Resources Directors to partner closely with business leaders and the Human Resources team to execute key HR initiatives across performance management, organizational development, employee and labor relations, succession planning, and policy implementation.

The right candidate for this role MUST have media experience. The role is well suited for an experienced HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and is skilled at supporting leaders through change. The Manager will report to the Regional Human Resources Director and support an employee population of approximately 1,200 union and non-union employees.

This role must be based in Irving (Nexstar headquarters) or any Nexstar market that operates a full-time newsroom producing local news coverage throughout the day (morning, midday, evening, and late broadcasts).

As a Regional HR leader, the Manager will act as a key business partner by applying HR expertise to support company initiatives and ensure consistent execution of Nexstar’s people strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR leadership to support and execute regional people strategies aligned with business objectives across Nexstar work locations
  • Work alongside the Regional HR Director to oversee multiple stations to support HR-related planning, coaching, employee development, compliance, and performance management for represented and non-represented workforce
  • Serve as a trusted HR advisor to managers and department leaders, providing guidance on employee relations and performance management
  • Interpret and implement HR policies, practices, and procedures, ensuring consistent application and escalation of complex issues as appropriate
  • Partner with Labor & Employment Counsel and HR leadership to support employees and labor relations matters, including investigations, corrective actions, and grievance processes
  • Support employee learning, development, and engagement initiatives in alignment with company priorities
  • Assist with the development and delivery of training plans for leaders and employees
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and escalate risks or concerns as needed

Job Knowledge & Skills

  • MUST have experience working in Human Resources in the media industry; 3+ years of progressive human resources experience, supporting multi-location or complex media organizations
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, industrial relations, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent amount of experience is required
  • Ability to problem solve, strategize, and develop and execute plans
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with managers and leaders in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with business leaders and HR leadership and partners
  • Ability to clearly communicate and reinforce HR and company processes using strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a union environment preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research issues, summarize findings, and make practical recommendations
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects at the same time
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws and HR best practices
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer

Compensation $70k-$75k annualized, commensurate with applicant’s experience and skill level.
