Primary Job Function
The Head of Insights and Data, EPD APAC position has been created to ensure support for the APAC growth strategy is grounded in (efficient) fact-based decisions. The candidate sought for the position will have a deep understanding of market data, data sources, and key Asia country dynamics, and able to proactively drive strategic initiatives. The role expectations combine elements of being strategic, analytical and execution driven.The regional Head of Strategy, Insights and Data will be responsible for driving accurate data collection, validation, modeling, analysis and defining new metrics to help the region operate successfully in the market context, by proactively delivering strategic insights. The incumbent will also be responsible to guide strategy project leads as they work on identified projects, by coaching and developing tightly scoped work. This highly visible role is critical to the organization as it is helping teams create fact-based strategies that improve our business's effectiveness, to enable and enhance the region’s market and customer understanding to drive regional business decisions. This position reports to APAC Marketing Director.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Anticipate business trends, create, drive and lead the market insights and business intelligence strategy to support the growth strategy, and accountable for the quality of results
- Create the fact base for the strategic planning process and developing the regional narrative consistent with Abbott’s global strategy
- Establish the “Source of Truth” about APAC market that is objective, fact based and consistent. Serve as the connection, or the point of contact, between global marketing, regional and local operations
- Proactively disseminate data intelligence to stakeholders, and also develop expertise in data and tools software. Play a key role in supporting the culture of data-driven decision making
- Leverage all data sources related to market and business intelligence to drive strategic recommendations and opportunities for growth. (Market data consolidation, Panels follow-up, Brand and category evolution, Opportunity of growth)
- Lead strategic project workstreams, responsible for hypothesis generation, problem-solving, and delivery from strategy to implementation. Set up organizations / project teams, governance, tools and methods for each key market topic identified
- Communicate, promote, influence at the right level in the organization to influence robust business decisions
- Upskill teams by sharing market insights and business intelligence expertise: introduce innovation and leverage internal and external benchmarking and networking (Agencies and other external partners)
- Cooperate with internal and external cross functional stakeholders using collaborative & agile Group tools and project modes
- Vendor management: Evaluate, select, onboard and conclude activities with external 3rd Party vendors, including; market research agencies, data providers, and technology platform and software providers, to meet any data or insights gaps as per laid down procedures for procurement of this kind of information.
- Manage end-to-end data projects; identify issues, gather information from various sources, analyze data, interpret patterns and trends, build models, give recommendations, and create insightful automated reports
- Recommend solutions across a complex range of products and processes
Requirements
- Project management skills
- High quality problem solving skills, business acumen, industry knowledge
- Data integrator and analytics, strong understanding and implantation of market research and quantitative skills
- Keen ability to identify patterns and detect trends
- Highly effective communication, presentation and influencing skills to a senior audience.
- Bringing urgency to the tasks at hand
- Strong analytical and strategic mindset and ability to condense and translate insights into clear and actionable messages
- Ability to multitask with competing priorities, and manage work within a matrix organization
- Being adaptable towards new situations and having an ‘out of the box’ approach to reference best in class from the industry
- Advanced Excel and PowerBI proficiency is a must for this role
- Ability to manage teams and 3rd Party Vendors relationship effectively
- Comfortable with ambiguity: able to take a high-level question, break down an approach, build a work plan, and execute
- Overall 6 – 7 years working experience with minimum 3 years’ experience in management consulting with a top tier firm is preferred. Market Intelligence, Competitive Intelligence, Business Intelligence, and/or Data Analytics is also accepted.
- Prior experience in driving strategic projects and cross functional teams is a must.
- Prior experience in any of the emerging markets in purview is a must.
- Prior experience in pharma / healthcare/ Medical Device/ Biotech Pharmaceutical/ Consumer industry preferred
- Strong communication skills with analytical skills
- High level of proficiency of English written, oral and spoken.
- Deep understanding of local APAC culture, health care infrastructure, geopolitical and business environment.
- Fluent in English and local language(s) of key APAC countries.
