Job Description

Key responsibilities:

The role provides governance, assurance and expert support on occupational safety, process safety, environmental protection and critical risk management, while driving collaboration, best-practice sharing and continuous improvement to enhance HSE performance, compliance and organisational resilience. You’ll provide technical advice, work on systems & process development, run second party audits/inspections, complete training, and coach & mentor in order to ensure successful rollouts & the adoption of these.

  • Strategic Business Partnering & Leadership Lead the Global HSE strategy implementation in the EMEA region by partnering with regional leaders to provide risk-based guidance, strengthen accountability for HSE performance, manage critical risks, and embed HSE excellence into business planning, operational improvement, change initiatives, and growth activities.
  • Critical Risk Management Provide regional oversight of critical risks and controls, ensuring safety and environmental risks are effectively managed, controls remain effective, and best-practice, risk-based decision-making is embedded across the region.
  • Technical Expertise & Operational Support: Provide expert HSE support, investigation guidance, regulatory advice, stakeholder engagement, and drive collaboration and continuous improvement through effective systems, tools, and best-practice sharing.
  • Governance & Standards: Support regional HSE governance by implementing global standards, providing support to local teams on compliance with regulatory and ISO 45001/14001/ 50001 requirements, and coordinating effective reporting and regulatory communication.
  • Assurance, Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Conduct regional HSE audits, assurance and performance monitoring, analyse trends and emerging risks, and provide insights to strengthen compliance, governance effectiveness and continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration & Best Practice: Facilitate regional HSE collaboration, share best practices and lessons learned, strengthen stakeholder partnerships, and align improvement initiatives with global HSE strategy and standards.

Qualifications

Must Haves:

  • Reside within a commutable distance of Bath, Leeds, or Manchester
  • Experience within operational/ field-service operation leadership within high hazard and critical risk industries, (such as engineering, manufacturing, energy, oil & gas, power generation, chemicals, construction or other high-hazard industries). This will include a strong knowledge of occupational safety, process safety and critical risk management, including critical control implementation and assurance.
  • Experience having worked in HSE from the ground up, and relevant courses or diplomas within HSE or engineering or a relevant degree
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of working time across the EMEA region, in order to build relationships, audit and understand risks, (you would manage your time independently)
  • Experience partnering with business leaders and HSE professionals to drive HSE performance, manage risk and implement governance frameworks
  • Experience leading incident investigations and applying root cause analysis techniques for significant and high-potential events.
  • Experience developing, implementing and improving ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems, supported by audit and assurance experience as well as a recognised health and safety qualification (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent)
  • Experience using HSE reporting systems, performance data and digital tools to support risk based decision-making and continuous improvement
