Job Description

Ready to shape pan-European trade finance solutions for Energy and Materials clients?

Why HSBC

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. Guided by our purpose of opening up a world of opportunity, our ambition is to become the world’s most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.

The Opportunity

HSBC is seeking a Director, Regional Head of Sales for the Energy + Materials (E+M) sector within Global Trade Solutions (GTS). This role focuses on delivering portfolio and sector revenue growth across Europe and the Americas while maintaining robust profitability and returns. You’ll cover pan-European mandates for both headquartered clients and key inbound clients and partner closely with colleagues across CIB and transaction banking. The role centres on developing sectorised solutions across trade and working capital using the full product suite from documentary trade and guarantees to receivables finance and supply chain solutions. You’ll contribute to sales and structuring discussions to strengthen client advisory and deliver bespoke sector-specific outcomes. Success means deeper client relationships, market-leading customer experience and a sales strategy aligned with GTS France, GTS Europe and Americas, Global GTS and CIB.

What you'll be doing

  • Leverage deep sector insight to create solutions aligned to the specific opportunities of the E+M sector
  • Deliver portfolio and sector revenue growth in line with GTS Europe and Americas targets while maintaining profitability and returns
  • Maintain high sales intensity across the frontline team and deepen customer relationships through strong internal collaboration
  • Cover pan-European mandates for headquartered clients and key inbound clients across the sector
  • Develop sectorised trade and working capital solutions across the full suite from documentary trade and guarantees to receivables finance and supply chain solutions
  • Cultivate a market-leading customer experience by embedding an effective selling and service culture across GTS partners
  • Contribute to GTS sales and structuring discussions to elevate client advisory and deliver bespoke structured sector-specific solutions
  • Build connectivity across the wider trade finance industry, adapting to regulatory and market infrastructure change and supporting new GTS propositions

What we're looking for

  • Bring deep Energy + Materials sector experience including time spent in industry or in close partnership with major sector clients
  • Demonstrate safe and sustainable revenue growth delivery through a client and solution-centric sales approach
  • Apply detailed knowledge of trade finance, trade and working capital solutions in a corporate banking context
  • Bring broad corporate and commercial banking experience including relationship management
  • Communicate clearly and influence effectively across internal and external stakeholders
  • Operate effectively in a complex matrix environment while making material progress with clients and stakeholders
  • Manage and develop teams across competing priorities including team building and people development
  • Travel across Europe and other regions as required and work fluently in English

Building sectorised growth in GTS

If you want to shape how HSBC supports Energy and Materials clients across trade and working capital this role offers the scope to make a visible impact. You’ll partner across Global Payments Solutions, Markets and Securities Services and wider GTS teams to deliver tailored client outcomes at scale. The role sits at the centre of pan-European mandates where sector insight and structured solutions make a measurable difference. If this opportunity matches the work you want to do next we’d welcome your application.
