Regional General Manager

WCPO Cincinnati | WEWS Cleveland | WKBW Buffalo

Scripps is seeking a Regional General Manager to lead three of the company's most important local media operations: WCPO in Cincinnati, WEWS in Cleveland, and WKBW in Buffalo. This executive leader will serve as the senior accountable leader across the market group, providing strategic, operational, financial, and people leadership to drive audience growth, revenue performance, community impact, and organizational effectiveness.

The Regional General Manager is a collaborative leader who models the company's core values, develops strong local leadership teams, and partners closely with corporate stakeholders to advance Scripps' mission of creating a better-informed world. This role requires a proven operator who can lead through influence, inspire innovation, develop talent, and deliver results across multiple markets while maintaining strong local brands and community connections.

Work Arrangement: The successful candidate may be based in any of the three station markets and will travel regularly among WCPO, WEWS, and WKBW to support employees, clients, and community partners.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead and oversee fully functioning multi-platform media operations across Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Buffalo with a focus on growing revenue, audience, brand strength, and community impact.
  • Serve as the senior accountable leader for ratings, revenue, operational performance, and execution across the assigned market group.
  • Develop and guide strategic and operational plans that support multi-platform content delivery, revenue generation, audience growth, and local brand alignment.
  • Partner with local leadership teams to establish market-specific priorities while ensuring consistent execution of company strategy and operating standards.
  • Lead with positive motivation, direction, insight, and accountability while supporting market leaders in achieving operational and financial objectives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and appropriate risk-taking throughout the organization.
  • Provide visible leadership across all assigned markets through engagement with employees, community leaders, advertisers, clients, and business partners.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, agencies, community organizations, and civic stakeholders.
  • Create highly collaborative, performance-focused environments that encourage teamwork, transparency, and accountability.
  • Coach, develop, and support succession planning for market leaders and key talent across the region.
  • Guide financial performance across assigned markets, including budgeting, expense management, operational planning, and capital investments.
  • Partner closely with sales, news, content, finance, engineering, HR, legal, and other corporate teams to strengthen business performance and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with FCC, EEO, SOX, and all applicable regulatory and company requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to scale best practices, improve operational effectiveness, and enhance market performance across the region.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards and reinforce a culture aligned with Scripps values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience, including responsibility for complex organizations, markets, business units, or multi-location operations.
  • Demonstrated success leading revenue growth, operational execution, strategic planning, talent development, and brand advancement.
  • Proven track record of executive leadership in media, broadcasting, digital media, or related industries.
  • Experience leading multiple markets, geographic locations, business units, or matrixed organizations preferred.
  • Strong background in financial management, budgeting, business planning, and organizational leadership.
  • Experience overseeing regulatory compliance and operational governance within a complex organization preferred.

  • Ability to identify, develop, and replicate best practices that enhance performance across multiple organizations.
