Regional Finance Controller (CFO) – West & Central Africa
Location: Accra, Ghana (regional remit)

Take on a high-visibility finance leadership role at a pivotal moment. We’re supporting a globally recognised shipping and logistics group to appoint a Regional Finance Controller (CFO) to oversee finance operations across West and Central Africa, based in Accra

Following a successful transformation phase that stabilised structures and strengthened controls, the region is now ready for its next chapter. This role is less about firefighting and more about sustaining momentum — embedding robust systems, influencing at senior level, and acting as a critical bridge between the region and global headquarters.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead finance strategy and governance across all countries in West and Central Africa, ensuring alignment with global objectives

  • Act as the senior finance partner to regional leadership, providing insight, challenge, and decision support

  • Maintain and enhance financial controls, reporting, forecasting, and cash management across the region

  • Own regional P&L oversight, performance management, and capital allocation

  • Drive ongoing finance transformation, systems optimisation, and process standardisation

  • Manage complex stakeholder relationships, including the ability to constructively challenge where needed

  • Oversee and coordinate finance teams across multiple countries, including offshore and shared-service providers

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, local tax regulations, transfer pricing, and corporate governance standards

  • Represent the region in high-level discussions with auditors, banks, and external partners

Who You Are

  • Extensive senior finance leadership experience, ideally at Regional Finance Controller / CFO level

  • Shipping line experience is essential, with best-in-class exposure to complex, international operations

  • Strong background in Africa; experience across West and/or Central Africa is highly desirable

  • Professional accounting qualification (CA or equivalent)

  • Deep expertise in financial control, principal/agency accounting, tax, and transfer pricing

  • Proven ability to operate in matrix organisations and manage upwards with confidence

  • Comfortable working in politically complex environments with high visibility and scrutiny

  • Strong communicator, able to engage effectively with offshore finance teams and global stakeholders

  • Strategic mindset with the discipline to ensure execution and control
