Regional Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner

Full-time position- Burnie Tasmania

CatholicCare Tasmania is the primary social services agency of the Catholic Church across Tasmania. We have 60 years’ experience delivering a wide range of services and support to improve individual, family and community wellbeing. As a Regional Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner your role is focused on providing family and property dispute resolution services to separating families that are child focused, culturally appropriate and with the opportunity for child inclusive practice. You will promote positive relationships, and create better outcomes for children and their parents through purposeful engagement.

Working as part of the team Key Accountabilities include:

• Family Dispute Resolution – Complete intake and screening, conduct family and property assessments, facilitate mediations, and support families to achieve child-focused parenting and property outcomes
• Complex Case Management - Assess and respond to family violence, mental health and substance use concerns & create safe, culturally responsive environments for diverse families
• Partnerships & Referrals - Build strong referral pathways and community partnerships to assist in referring and connecting families with appropriate support services
• Collaboration & Administration - Maintain accurate client records, data and service documentation

What you will bring

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner registration
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated capacity to use highly developed written and verbal communication
• Experience in both Property and Family Dispute resolution
• Demonstrated ability to work with families with a range of complex needs including mental health and drug and alcohol issues or from CALD and indigenous backgrounds

Selection Criteria:

1. Commitment to the mission and values of CatholicCare Tasmania as informed by the Archbishop’s Charter; and a broad understanding of the operation of the Catholic Church in Tasmania.
2. Demonstrated experience and training in Family Dispute Resolution, including working with a child consultant.
3. Demonstrated experience and training in Property Dispute Resolution.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of the impact of family violence including the ability to identify and assess family violence and ensure client safety is a primary consideration in decision making.
5. Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
6. Demonstrated professional computing, verbal communication and written documentation skills.
7. Proven ability to work within a team environment and network effectively, including resourcefulness and organisation skills.
