The Opportunity

We are seeking an ambitious, people-oriented leader to take the helm of our Bridges, Aviation, and Roads group in our Transport and Infrastructure business in Queensland. As Regional Executive, you will oversee a thriving practice of approximately 120 professionals across multiple offices (Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Townsville, Cairns) and serve as a key member of WSP’s national leadership team.

With an exceptional project backlog already secured, and a robust pipeline ahead, you will lead the continued expansion of our practice into its next phase of success. This role is pivotal; you’ll have end-to-end responsibility for strategy execution, client outcomes, team performance and business growth in the region. It’s an opportunity to build on strong foundations and introduce fresh ideas to keep our Queensland transport business at the forefront of the industry.

Key Responsibilities

In this executive role, you will:

• Lead and Inspire the Team: Provide visionary leadership to a diverse, multi-location team, fostering an inclusive ‘One WSP’ culture that emphasises collaboration, innovation, and the highest standards of safety and quality across all our projects. You will act as a mentor and coach, developing future leaders and championing professional growth for our people.

• Drive Strategic Business Performance: Translate our national strategy into regional success. You’ll be managing a multi-million-dollar P&L and meeting growth and profitability targets through effective governance, financial discipline, and continuous improvement in project delivery. You will leverage our strong existing market position to achieve year-on-year revenue growth and margin improvement while ensuring operational excellence.

• Accelerate Market Growth and Innovation: Spearhead business development and work-winning, shaping bid strategies and forging strategic partnerships to expand our portfolio of high-value projects. You will apply a fresh, entrepreneurial approach, embracing digital tools and “future-ready” solutions to enhance our offerings.

• Champion Client Engagement and Excellence: Serve as an executive sponsor and trusted advisor to key clients like Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), reinforcing WSP’s reputation for technical excellence and client focus. You will ensure our delivery is client-centric by building long-term relationships, achieving top-tier client satisfaction scores, and proactively identifying new opportunities to add value.

• Shape the Future of QLD’s Infrastructure: Work closely with WSP’s national and global experts to drive innovation across bridges, roads, and aviation projects. You will lead the delivery of major transport programs, ensuring that outcomes are sustainable, safe, and aligned with Queensland’s future needs.

What Success Looks Like

Within 12–24 months, you will have elevated our business by expanding our market share and revenue, maintaining a robust pipeline of projects across Queensland’s key growth corridors, and strengthening WSP’s relationships with government and industry partners. Your leadership will be evident in an engaged, high-performing team culture and a deep bench of emerging talent ready to take on bigger challenges.

Through your fresh perspective and strategic guidance, our Bridges, Aviation & Roads group will continue to lead the industry in delivering transformative infrastructure for Queensland’s communities.

What You Bring:

• Proven Leadership in Transport Infrastructure: Over 15 years of experience in the transport infrastructure sector, successfully providing leadership and governance across the delivery on major projects including Alliances, Design and Construct, and direct engagements with large multi-disciplinary teams. A track record of driving growth and improvement in an engineering consulting or contracting environment is essential.

• Strategic and Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated success delivering strong business performance, e.g. meeting financial targets, improving margins, and managing risk, ideally with P&L responsibility for a significant business unit or region. You combine big-picture thinking with disciplined execution, using data-driven decision-making and governance to ensure results.

• Client Credibility and Industry Presence: Extensive relationships with major Queensland clients – including TMR – with a reputation as a trusted advisor in the transport community. Active involvement in industry forums or professional associations is a plus, reflecting a strong personal profile and commitment to advancing the sector.

• Innovative, Collaborative Mindset: A change leader who embraces new ideas and encourages creativity. You have experience in transforming or modernising processes, adopting digital tools, or driving innovation in project delivery to better serve clients. You naturally collaborate across organisational boundaries, galvanising national and global resources to achieve outstanding outcomes.

• People and Culture Leadership: A genuine passion for coaching and mentoring others. You can point to how you’ve built high-performing teams and nurtured next-generation leaders in your previous roles. You lead by example in fostering an inclusive, safety-first culture, and you inspire those around you to excel, adapt, and grow in their careers.
