Job Description

As Regional Safety Manager, you support Health & Safety programs across Plastipak’s manufacturing operations. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a best-in-class safety culture at an organization recognized as one of America’s Safest Companies by EHS Today.

This is a fully in-office position located our corporate headquarters in Plymouth, MI.

You Will

  • Provide guidance, direction and support the implementation of EHS programs across US manufacturing facilities; includes environmental, fire protection, and sustainability.
  • Manage compliance with federal, state and local regulations; performs EHS inspections and audits.
  • Develop and recommend appropriate engineering or work process modifications to prevent worker illness or injury; provide follow-up assessment of recommendations.
  • Lead incident investigation and apply various problem solving techniques.
  • Develop and support the completion of reports, presentations, investigations and recommendations.
  • Work with manufacturing locations to develop or enhance new safety committees or take leadership role in enlarging the focus/scope of the safety committee's activities.
  • Work with sites to identify existing or potential hazards, and recommend corrective/ preventive measures dealing with machine guarding, safety controls, lockout/tagout and high-risk safety programs.
  • Coach and guide managers, leaders, and other professionals on safety leadership, promoting a culture of safety at all levels of the business.
  • Maintain familiarity with local, state, and federal OSHA/EPA rules along with relevant consensus standards e.g., ANSI, RIA, NFPA, etc.

You Have

  • A Bachelor’s degree in EHS, engineering, or related field required.
  • 5+ years’ of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) preferred.
  • Multi-site experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel 20-25% of the time.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to operate as an effective leader and representative of Plastipak.
  • Familiarity with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) is a plus.
