Looking for someone to lead a region with a focus on Jesus, a desire to think creatively, an ability to inspire a positive culture, a proven track record of developing others, a desire to focus on healthy ministry and growth and a person who leads with vision. The Southcoast region has a strong regional leadership team, a diverse team of staff, a positive culture, a collaborative spirit, and people with a deep love for Jesus and young people. The Southcoast region has a broad scope of ministry focuses and geographies. We are looking for a leader of leaders and someone who can help continue some positive movement as well as move things forward into a new season of collaboration and growth.

Pay Transparency:

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is outlined below. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Standard range: $89,070-$114,805.

Responsibilities:

Spiritual Development — “Following Jesus” includes prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health, and church relationships.

  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a church community.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Ensure that all Young Life ministry in the region is designed and carried out with a dependence on prayer that takes place out of the overflow of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Leadership Development — “Equipping leaders, committee, and staff” includes key volunteer care, recruiting, team building and training, supervision, and vision casting.

  • Cast vision for reaching “every kid” within the region.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and place staff within the region.
  • Supervise, develop and evaluate staff, providing resources and experiences needed to implement the vision.
    • Facilitate departures when necessary.
  • Develop and implement regional training.
  • Conduct assignments or events, including leadership weekends, recruiting days, staff development, leadership training, and more.

Resource Development — “Fueling the ministry” includes events, major donor care, public relations (branding), and the Taking Donors Seriously team.

  • Help areas develop committees. Communicate regularly with the committee and RCE chairs within the region.
  • Develop and lead the region’s fundraising strategy, ensuring excellence in communication to donors.
  • Raise the necessary funds to carry out the regional ministry vision.
  • Ensure an RCE plan including a vision statement and strategy and financial master plan is implemented and reviewed.
  • Work with Development staff to identify potential donors for mission-wide efforts.
  • Coordinate and conduct quality events that reflect Young Life’s capacity to impact kids and warrant the investment of a participant’s personal and corporate resources.
  • Work with the area committee to develop good community and church relationships.
  • If appropriate, recruit, develop, encourage and sustain a diverse regional committee.

Direct Ministry — “Proclaiming and modeling” includes contact work, club, Campaigners, and camp.

  • Develop new areas, and identify interested adults to help the ministry to grow.
  • Visit areas as needed, including routine and emergency crisis visits.
  • Observe and evaluate local areas to ensure Young Life ministry is carried out with excellence.
  • Ensure a plan is in place to grow Young Life in the region including multi-cultural and focus ministries.
  • Maintain ministry contact with kids to the extent it is necessary to be effective in this role.
  • Provide networking opportunities to offer additional camping experiences using non-Young Life camps and discipleship experiences

Ministry Support — “Taking care of business” includes accounting, administration, communication (internal), data management, and strategic plan.

  • Maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency using the mission-wide applications.
  • Interface with the mission-wide office to facilitate communication and implementation of all Young Life leadership initiatives, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication to everyone within the scope of ministry.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plan growth and initiatives to grow the ministry; review them on a regular basis.
  • Implement and support regional initiatives, such as a student staff program, multi-cultural advance, and Forward.
  • Accept both short and long-term assignments and projects.
  • Other mission-wide tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of Young Life area director experience (or above), or equivalent executive leadership experience outside of Young Life.
  • College degree
  • Young Life staff experience is highly recommended to succeed in the position.
  • Must be able to supervise at a distance.
  • Proven spiritual leader.
  • Proven leadership in developing diverse staff.
  • Proven relational skills.
  • Must be growing in both emotional and cultural intelligence.
