Day ShiftThe Regional Director of Provider Employment Services will lead and oversee all aspects of provider employment operations for the regional MercyOne medical group. This role is responsible for strategic and operational leadership of provider recruitment, credentialing, contracting, and compensation. The incumbent will ensure alignment with organizational goals, compliance with regulatory standards, and delivery of a seamless experience for providers throughout their employment lifecycle. This position collaborates closely with operational leaders, physician leadership, and system-level teams to support growth, access, and retention strategies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Assures that the philosophy and mission of MercyOne is represented in the operation and direction of assigned departments. Communicates and promotes a strong commitment to this mission.
2. Provide strategic and operational leadership for provider employment services. Oversees all aspects of provider recruitment, credentialing, contracting, compensation, and workforce planning to support organizational goals.
3. Lead organizational change and process improvement initiatives. Drives standardization, efficiency, and best practices across provider employment functions in alignment with Medical Group objectives.
4. Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements. Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and laws; ensures policies, procedures, and practices meet applicable standards.
5. Build and sustain effective partnerships across the organization. Collaborates with Medical Staff Services, GME, Finance, HR, operational leaders, physician leadership, marketing, and external recruitment partners to support growth and access strategies.
6. Oversee departmental operations, staffing, and team development. Leads hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management; facilitates communication, teamwork, and accountability within the department.
7. Manage key vendor and agency relationships. Oversees contracts and performance with external partners, including locum tenens agencies and recruitment firms.
8. Develops, implements and periodically reviews department/organizational policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of Provider Employment Services. Recommends policy and program developments to ensure internal cost effectiveness, equitable practices and external competitiveness.
9. Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to them as they change frequently. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful due to time constraints.
10. Provides administrative direction for program administration for all physician and APP employment functions including recruitment, credentialing, contracting, and compensation.
11. Develops and implements physician competency and performance evaluation processes. Works closely with senior and physician leadership to assure compliance.
12. Maintains excellent rapport and cooperative relationships with senior leadership teams and throughout MercyOne; ensures that conflicts are resolved in a constructive and timely manner.
13. Responsible to foster positive collaborating relationships with other departments and divisions.
14. Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the MercyOne and Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
15. Maintains confidentiality of information pertaining to clients, physicians, employees, and MercyOne business.
16. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master’s Degree with the focus on Business, Healthcare Administration or other related field required.
2. At least seven (7) years of applicable experience consisting of leadership experience as well as experience at a multi-hospital system including acute and ambulatory care venues.
3. Experience influencing senior executives. Highly developed verbal and written communication, persuasion and negotiation skills in order to effectively identify and present services, assess organizational development opportunities, facilitate improvements, and present advisory, persuasive and authoritative recommendations to all levels of management.
4. Experience working with physicians and advance practice providers
5. Experience with process improvement methodologies preferred (Performance Excellence, LEAN, Six Sigma)
6. Must have excellent communication/interpersonal skills to work effectively with physicians. Frequently interacts with medical staff, employees and administration.
7. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form.
8. Must have the ability to set direction and lead with minimal direction from others; translate and communicate the organization's strategic plan into tactical and measurable goals.
