The Regional Director of Resident Services (RDRS), along with the Executive Director and Resident Services Director (RSD), is responsible for overseeing the implementation and coordination of Resident Care services at each of the Maplewood communities in the region. The Regional Director of Resident Services is responsible for evaluating standards of quality, service, training, expense control, and revenue generation within our communities. The role is one of support for the nursing and executive leadership within each community. With a focused portfolio of five Massachusetts communities — including one skilled nursing community — each fully staffed without reliance on agency staffing, and well-established clinical support at both the community and corporate levels, this role offers regional impact with a manageable, sustainable scope.

Essential Functions

  • Regulatory and Corporate Compliance: Ensure each community within the defined region is compliant with Maplewood policies, procedures, practices and programmatic standards, as well as with Massachusetts Executive Office of Aging & Independence (AGE) regulations related to resident care and clinical operations, and applicable federal/CMS requirements for the skilled nursing setting.
  • Training: Ensure all Resident Services Directors (RSDs) are properly trained in their roles and are fulfilling their duties to properly train their staff, including Resident Nurse Directors (RNDs), Resident Services Assistants (RSAs), and Clinical Coordinators, on policies, standards, procedures, state regulations, care delivery, infection control, staffing, quality assurance, and related areas.
  • Staffing: Ensure each community is properly staffed according to budget and provide support to the RSDs to fill vacancies in a timely way by working with home office support personnel and corporate leadership.
  • Budgets: Assist and support RSDs and Executive Directors in maintaining their budgets for resident care related resources and personnel.
  • Care Delivery: Ensure that all care delivered to our residents by our care staff and outside care providers meets Maplewood quality standards as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Provider Partnerships: Assist with developing and maintaining strategic relationships with provider partners in collaboration with home office senior leadership, Executive Directors, and RSDs.
  • Incident Management: Ensure each community is following proper protocol for managing incidents, including communication, incident reporting, investigation and resolution.
  • Infection Control/Public Health: Ensure each community is following policy, procedure and protocol for infection control and public health measures, including training and oversight of Infection Control Specialists in each community.
  • Supervision: Directly manage and supervise regional nursing human resources, including the regional float. This includes hiring, onboarding, orientation, schedules, performance, and training/mentoring/coaching as required.
  • Policies and Procedures: Assist senior leadership in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, protocols and best practices.
  • Surveys: Assist communities and senior leadership with scheduled surveys and any DPH onsite visits or regulatory requests, including being present in the community during onsite visits by DPH.
  • Process Improvement and Best Practices: Participate in process improvement efforts and initiatives in collaboration with senior leadership and community leaders. Ensure communities are consistently using Maplewood quality standards and best practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Facilitate regularly scheduled internal quality audits (CQE) to ensure quality measures are being met.
  • Clinical Systems: Ensure all clinical systems (EHR, eMAR, life safety systems, communication systems, etc.) are optimized and that staff are trained to use them properly.

Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification

  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts; advanced training and certification(s) preferred.
  • 5+ years of nursing experience, including 3+ years in assisted living leadership.
  • Previous experience as a Resident Services Director (RSD) or equivalent community-level clinical leadership role.
  • Proven and progressive experience within assisted living communities.
  • Long-term care or skilled nursing facility (SNF) experience a plus, as the portfolio includes one skilled nursing community.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly among the three campuses.
