The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA’s product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. KLA’s Optical Metrology Division (OMD) delivers advanced systems for optical overlay metrology, combining hardware and software to boost yield and efficiency. In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.
· With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers.
Central Engineering is KLA's largest engineering organization comprised of 9 Centers-of-Excellence (CoE) in various disciplines applied across all product groups in the company. These CoE include Handling & Automation, Precision Motion Control, Sensors & Image Acquisition, Platform Design, and Packaging Engineering, among others. Talent includes over 500 engineers across global centers in Israel, China, India, and the US. Each CoE contributes not just talent and deliverables per discipline toward product programs, but also subject matter expertise, best practices, roadmaps, specialized facilities, apparatus, models, and analytics. These differentiate KLA not only in WHAT we do, but also in HOW we do it.
Work closely with division different organizations including engineering, sales and marketing within KLA and with customer engineers outside KLA and provide high level applications support of complex Overlay measurement systems.
Customer support:
Manage in-house customer demonstrations and head-to-head (H2H) activities at customer sites. Conduct new tool demonstrations to showcase tool performance and develop use cases to help drive tool sales.
Design experiments to characterize tool/subcomponent performance, demonstrate product value in alpha testing, beta testing and pilot tool support in the ramp phase, thereby enabling product penetration/adoption at customer facilities at customers site.
Develop recipes to model complex optical applications and optimize tool performance;
Provide escalation support to onsite field service engineer; leading and coordinating remote/local troubleshooting;
Product development:
Characterize next generation state-of-the art overlay measurement products.
Design test plans, collect and analyze data, publish results and recommendations in the form of applications notes, best known methods.
Form training materials and transfer new production knowledge and application capabilities to worldwide apps support team.
Work closely with division system and algo team and be creative to develop software offline tools for data analysis, feature development.
Worldwide travel (around 70%) is required.
Candidate must have MS, or PHD in Physics, or related engineering fields, such as optics, materials science, and microelectronics.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Superb communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be self-driven and independent, while still being a strong team player.
Proficient in the English language, and working effectively with different cultures.
Matlab/Python experience is a plus.
