Purpose of the Role

The Regional Clinical Lead works in partnership with charge nurses and other key stakeholders to provide nursing leadership across a defined cluster of clinics.

The role contributes to and leads the implementation of Tāmaki Health’s nursing strategic priorities, while also guiding day-to-day nursing direction and overall clinical nursing priorities across the organisation. Increasing nurse-led care through planned care and nurse prescribing is a core focus.

The role ensures strong clinical leadership by aligning primary healthcare trends, workforce capability, systems, and technology to support high-quality nursing practice.

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Lead to provide strategic and clinical leadership across nursing teams in Auckland. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, you will work closely within a team of Regional Clinical Leads, Cluster Managers, Charge Nurses, and clinic teams to implement innovative nursing models of care, strengthen clinical quality, and support excellent patient outcomes.

A key focus of this role is increasing nurse-led care and ensuring clinical services are patient focussed and delivered safely, efficiently, and aligned with best practice.

Working Hours & Location

  • 0.8 – 1.0 FTE (32–40 hours) per week

  • Includes occasional on-call duties, not more than once per month

  • Based at our Management Support Office in Ellerslie, with regular travel across your assigned cluster clinics

Cluster: Local Doctors Clinics – Mangere Bridge, Mangere Town Centre, Browns Road, Takanini, and Manurewa Health

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the strategic development of nursing services, aligned with primary healthcare trends

  • Provide clinical leadership, coaching, and guidance to senior management and nursing teams

  • Support and mentor nursing staff, fostering development, capability, and performance

  • Support clinic charge nurses with recruitment, training, orientation, and performance processes for nursing staff

  • Oversee quality improvement initiatives and clinical audit processes

  • Maintain oversight of nursing funding streams to ensure efficiency and sustainability

  • Promote and uphold principles of health equity, cultural safety, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi

  • Demonstrate understanding of Māori tikanga, kawa, and culturally responsive care

You Will Need to Have

  • A current New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate (APC)

  • Extensive experience and a well-developed understanding of primary care, general practice (GP) and urgent care (UC)

  • Proven leadership experience in a clinical environment

  • At least five years’ nursing experience in New Zealand

  • Strong organisational and leadership skills

  • Experience in quality improvement and clinical teaching

  • Commitment to biculturalism and health equity

  • Awareness of PHO, ACC, and nursing professional development requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Familiarity with MedTech or similar PMS (advantageous)

  • Legal Right to Work in New Zealand
