Job Description

Colwen Hotels is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Regional Chief Engineer to lead engineering operations across an assigned region of hotels. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced hospitality engineering leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working across multiple properties to drive operational excellence, safety, and asset preservation.

In this role, you will serve as the technical leader and strategic partner to hotel leadership teams, providing guidance, support, and oversight to Chief Engineers while ensuring that engineering operations across the region are performing at the highest level. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves position that requires both strategic oversight and hands-on involvement. This position reports to the Corporate Director of Engineering.

What You’ll Do

As Regional Chief Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of hotel facilities across your assigned region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and operational oversight to Chief Engineers across multiple hotels
  • Guide and direct engineering and maintenance operations across select-service, extended-stay, and full-service properties
  • Partner with hotel General Managers and Operations leaders to ensure high standards of property condition and guest experience
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and develop top engineering talent, including Chief Engineers
  • Lead preventative maintenance programs and ensure consistency across the portfolio
  • Oversee work order systems, maintenance logs, and engineering reporting standards
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, and safety regulations
  • Monitor and manage regional vendor relationships and service contracts
  • Provide oversight and guidance for capital projects, renovations, and major repairs
  • Review and support property capital expenditure (CapEx) planning and budgeting
  • Serve as a technical expert and problem-solver for complex mechanical, electrical, and structural issues

Technical Expertise

The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on knowledge of hotel systems including:

  • HVAC systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Plumbing and mechanical systems
  • Boilers and refrigeration systems
  • Chillers and cooling towers
  • Water treatment systems
  • Pneumatic and building control systems
  • Compressors and mechanical equipment
  • General building trades including carpentry and structural maintenance

Experience & Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of hotel Chief Engineer experience or multi-property engineering leadership experience
  • Prior experience supporting multiple hotel properties preferred
  • 1–2 years of leadership or management experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard hotel engineering systems
  • Strong technical knowledge of building and mechanical systems

Additional Requirements

This role requires an individual who is comfortable working in a dynamic hospitality environment.

  • Ability to travel and stay overnight when necessary
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical inspection duties
  • Comfortable working in mechanical environments and varied conditions
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules when operational needs require

Compensation

Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000
