The Opportunity
Ready to make a real impact in regional WA? Join our Regional Education team as a Regional Cancer Prevention Coordinator servicing the Wheatbelt region and help guide meaningful change in cancer prevention and early detection.
In this dynamic, community-focused role, you’ll build strong local partnerships, deliver engaging education sessions, and hold cancer information events that really make an impact. You’ll help raise awareness and expand access to vital tools, resources, and trusted information, empowering people and communities to take informed, confident action.
Work alongside leaders in cancer prevention and help reduce the incidence and impact of cancer across the Wheatbelt. If you are ready to make a difference where it matters most, we want to hear from you!
Based in Northam, this position is available in a full time (1.0FTE) or part time (minimum 0.6FTE) capacity and entails travel within the Wheatbelt region.
What you’ll be doing:
• Promoting and providing information on cancer prevention and early detection strategies in the community
• Coordinating professional and public education events on cancer in the Wheatbelt region
• Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with the local media, primary care professionals, Aboriginal Medical Services, local governments, workplaces and community organisations in the Wheatbelt region
• Being the spokesperson for Cancer Council WA in the Wheatbelt region
• Identifying resources and partnerships to support our relevant projects and initiatives
• Providing monthly reporting on activities carried out over your region
• Attending and participating in Regional Education team meetings as required
About you:
To be successful in this role you will have:
• Tertiary qualification in the health area (eg. health promotion), including recent health promotion graduates
• Knowledge of regional health services and issues
• Knowledge of cancer control issues is desirable
• Experience working with the media is desirable
• Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including public speaking and report writing
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Suite
• Current Police Clearance
• Current West Australian Driver’s Licence
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA
• Have a positive approach to the workplace
