WHY PATIENTS NEED YOU

As a member of the U.S. Vaccines Sales Leadership Team, the Regional Business Director (RBD) leads the development and execution of regional sales strategy to meet or exceed performance goals across promoted vaccines and new product launches. This leader drives a high-performing, multi-channel sales platform focused on increasing appropriate immunization across accounts, pharmacies, patient care centers, and institutional customers.

The RBD operates as a collaborative leader across Customer Facing Teams, aligning strategies to deliver cohesive and effective market execution. This role requires strong business acumen, agile leadership, and a commitment to teamwork, while serving as a visible champion of change, compliance, and Pfizer’s culture of integrity.

HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT

Strategic Leadership & Business Planning

  • Translate national strategy into clear regional priorities and ensure execution through robust business planning.

  • Develop and continuously refine a comprehensive Regional Business Plan incorporating market dynamics, customer needs, and evolving immunization channels.

  • Identify short-, mid-, and long-term growth opportunities and align cross-functional resources to capture them.

  • Analyze regional performance, market trends, and customer insights to guide strategic and tactical decisions.

  • Allocate promotional spend, call plans, and resources effectively to maximize impact.

Customer & Market Excellence

  • Build deep understanding of regional customer segments and channel-specific drivers.

  • Identify key customers and lead coordinated account planning in partnership with Customer Facing Teams.

  • Translate insights into targeted actions that drive portfolio performance and customer engagement.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner closely with Account Management, Channel Solutions, Strategy/Effectiveness, and HQ teams to align priorities and execution.

  • Facilitate alignment, decision-making, and resource optimization across teams.

  • Ensure consistent communication and a “One Pfizer” approach across all stakeholders.

  • Share best practices across regions to scale successful approaches and avoid duplication.

Annual Focus (1-Year Horizon)

  • Evaluate customer trends and portfolio needs in partnership with cross-functional teams.

  • Use analytics and local insights to shape channel strategy and resource deployment.

  • Lead alignment discussions to ensure clear priorities and effective execution.

  • Deliver on agreed plans while proactively identifying opportunities for course correction.

  • Leverage cross-functional expertise (Marketing, Medical, Government Affairs, etc.) to maximize revenue opportunities.

  • Develop data-driven business cases to inform resourcing, investment, and trade-off decisions.

  • Provide feedback to HQ to strengthen brand strategies and customer value propositions.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Drive strong collaboration across Sales Regions and Customer Facing Teams to deliver shared portfolio objectives.

  • Clarify roles and accountability for HSS within complex account structures.

  • Align with HQ Marketing and Strategy teams to prioritize opportunities and optimize deployment.

  • Partner effectively across Pfizer teams with shared product or account responsibilities.

  • Ensure consistent field alignment with Account Management and Channel Solutions.

People Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build and sustain a high-performance culture by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent.

  • Maintain a strong talent pipeline and development plans across the region.

  • Lead and coach 9–11 direct reports while influencing a broader team of approximately 100+ colleagues.

  • Drive performance management through clear expectations, coaching, and feedback aligned with Pfizer’s coaching strategy.

  • Support career development and recognize differentiated performance through rewards and advancement opportunities.

  • Lead District and Regional Business Reviews in partnership with cross-functional leaders.

  • Guide District Business Managers in developing effective district plans and resource strategies.

  • Manage employee relations in partnership with PX/ER to ensure a productive and compliant workplace.

Strategic Impact & Enterprise Leadership

  • Communicate a compelling vision and inspire teams to deliver results aligned with Pfizer’s Blueprint.

  • Lead high-impact regional and national initiatives that shape future business performance.

  • Partner across the commercial organization to deliver forward-looking strategies.

  • Provide input to Brand Teams on product strategy, promotional priorities, and execution effectiveness.

  • Serve as a key contributor to POA/NSM development and execution, ensuring alignment and accountability.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have

  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 12+years ofexperience.

  • Demonstrated success in a senior commercial, marketing and/or sales role, including experience in sales/account management, marketing, strategy, operations and HQ functional roles.

  • Minimum of 10+ years pharmaceutical, Biotech or medical marketing/sales experience with at least 3+ years in a promoted position with demonstrated leadership experience.

  • At least 5+ years of managerial experience at a senior level – managing teams of commercial colleagues at all levels in the organization.

  • Demonstrated capability to leverage portfolio level account analytics to drive strategic and integrated account plans.

  • Experience managing a team of diverse colleagues in multi-disciplinary positions.

  • Experience of successfully working with key thought leaders or high influence customers.

  • Experience managing a function, marketing and/or sales, with a large $250k+ budget, and large groups of colleagues (+30).

  • Demonstrated One Pfizer approach by operating above-brand or cross-function/BU on policy and strategic issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly get up to speed on specific market and customer knowledge as well as brand knowledge.

  • Working knowledge of sales and marketing operations including: data/reports, targeting, call planning, compensation, alignment and structure, primary and secondary market research, and tactical programs.

  • Strong understanding of Good Promotional Practice and Human Resource guidelines and the ability to lead by example.

  • Ability to travel is required.

  • The selected candidate’s time is expected to be 100% dedicated to the secondment role upon transition.

Nice-to-Have

  • M aster's degree with at least 10+ years of experience;ORa PhD with 7+ years of experience; OR MD with 5+ years of experience.

  • Vaccines experience preferred.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Span of Control:Leads 9–11 direct reports and an extended team of approximately 100+ HSS and ABM resources; collaborates with 4–6 cross-functional partners across Account Management, Channel Solutions, Sales Strategy/Effectiveness, and Business Operations.

  • Budgetary Impact:Responsible for approximately $900M in revenue.

  • Travel:Regular travel across the region and to HQ locations as needed.

  • Geography:Northeast Region includes DC, MD, PA (Philadelphia & Pittsburgh), NJ, NY (NYC, Long Island, Buffalo), CT, RI, MA, and other assigned territories.

  • Experience:U.S. Vaccines experience preferred.

  • Commitment:Role requires 100% dedication during secondment.
