JOB TITLE: Regional Agronomy Sales Manager LOCATION: Regional

REPORTS TO: VP, Sales & Marketing CLASSIFICATION: Full-time/Exempt

Leads execution of CFE's agronomy growth strategy within an assigned geography by developing people, driving sales and profitability, expanding customer relationships and market share, and ensuring consistent execution across seed, crop protection, crop nutrition, biologicals, precision agriculture, and agronomic services.

Serves as the primary field leader for Agronomists, Agronomy Trainees, and Agronomy Interns. Partners with the Director of Agronomy Products and Product Development Manager to translate strategy into measurable marketplace results. Maintains and grows approximately 5–10 strategic customer accounts to strengthen marketplace awareness and model consultative, system-based selling.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Team Development

  • Execute regional sales strategies and business plans; recruit, coach, develop, and retain high-performing agronomy sales professionals.
  • • Provide field coaching through ride-alongs, customer visits, territory reviews, and performance discussions; establish clear expectations, accountability standards, and development plans.
  • • Develop future sales leaders, support succession planning, and foster ownership, customer focus, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Customer Growth & Key Account Management

  • Manage and grow 5–10 strategic accounts; develop customer business plans that align agronomic solutions with customer goals and increase retention and share of wallet.
  • Support complex opportunities, serve as an escalation point for significant customer, operations, agronomic, or business concerns, and model consultative, system-based selling.

Regional Sales Execution

  • Implement agronomy product, service, campaign, and growth priorities consistently across the region.
  • Use customer segmentation and territory planning to maximize opportunities; monitor sales, margin, market share, retention, and profitability performance.
  • Promote consistent use of CRM, sales planning, and customer management processes.

Agronomy Leadership Collaboration

  • Partner with agronomy product leadership on portfolio strategy, pricing, training, launches, demonstrations, agronomic positioning, and growth priorities.
  • Share marketplace insights, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence; support enterprise initiatives that strengthen One CFE integration.

Precision Agriculture & Innovation

  • Drive adoption of precision agriculture technologies and digital agronomy solutions; integrate data and technology into customer recommendations.
  • Promote differentiated solutions that improve customer profitability and support implementation of future technology, data, and service innovations.

Financial, Risk & Business Management

  • Achieve regional sales, gross margin, revenue, market share, retention, and profitability objectives; support forecasting, budgeting, and business planning.
  • Use data and analytics to improve decisions and sales performance; support credit policies and collection efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, safety expectations, and regulatory requirements; promote ethical business practices, responsible agriculture, and stewardship of company assets, customer information, and business relationships.

Professional Representation & Other Duties

  • Remain engaged in meetings, contribute thoughtful insights, and support enterprise objectives; represent CFE professionally at customer meetings, community functions, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Build relationships across CFE business units, demonstrate company values, promote teamwork, and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Decision Authority

  • Regional sales execution plans, territory priorities, customer coverage assignments, and key account strategies.
  • Sales coaching, employee development, performance management recommendations, strategic account plans, and regional implementation of growth initiatives.
  • Resource allocation recommendations that support regional business objectives.

Success Measures

Revenue and gross margin growth; regional profitability; market share; customer retention and strategic account expansion; agronomy acre growth and system-selling penetration; precision agriculture adoption and service utilization; employee engagement, retention, and talent development; territory plan execution and CRM utilization.

Qualifications

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agribusiness, Agricultural Business Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of agronomy sales experience; 3 years of leadership, coaching, or team development experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in sales growth, customer relationship management, and business development; strong knowledge of seed, crop protection, crop nutrition, biologicals, and precision agriculture solutions.

Physical Requirements

Works in office and field environments with frequent travel to customer locations, agronomy facilities, demonstration plots, and cooperative locations. Requires regular sitting, standing, walking, driving, computer use, and communication; ability to navigate agricultural facilities, outdoor field environments, and varying weather conditions; and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
