Refugee Resettlement assists in helping create a home-away-from-home, we assist government-approved refugees in becoming self-sufficient through cultural orientation, job development, family reunification and resettlement.
The After School Instructor is responsible for coordinating and successfully conducting the after-school program for elementary students. The After School Instructor will recruit students for the after-school program, ensure registration and attendance permission, and meet with school administrators. The After School Instructor is also responsible for teaching and monitoring the after-school program including preparing lessons, evaluating students' progress, and monitoring attendance of both participants and volunteers. The successful candidate will have a passion for working with refugee students and families as well as display an ability to create and implement meaningful and effective lesson plans.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Create a welcoming, friendly learning environment for refugee students, create a curriculum and prepare lessons and materials according to the curriculum, implement lesson plans at the after school/summer program.
- Register students in after school program, create/update registration, and permission forms for the after-school program, set up and attend meetings with school administrators, monitor student progress, monitor attendance, write a weekly report detailing activities completed, maintain case files.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- One (1) year working in an educational setting or within refugee populations
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
- Experience working with children.
- Some driving between school and office.
