Job Description:

Description: The Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for installation, maintenance, calibrations, overhaul, service, and repair for all levels of refrigeration and air conditioning systems throughout the JPS Health Network. Typical Duties: Reads schematics, interprets manufacturers’ specifications, written, and verbal instructions for the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

Performs preventive maintenance on air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems to maintain specified temperature and humidity.

Inspects and adjusts air conditioning and refrigeration systems after installation.

Inspects, calibrates, adjusts, lubricates, and repairs and/or replaces components as necessary.

Maintains equipment inventory, submits requisitions, and communicates with vendors and contractors to communicate information.

Observes and practices appropriate safety procedures and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) protocols for managing refrigeration equipment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED. Vocational or technical school training specializing in air conditioning and refrigeration systems. 3 plus years of experience working with air conditioning and refrigeration systems, installation, and repair.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Section 608 Technician Certification, Type Universal
