We are seeking a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician to join our dynamic team and play a key role in supporting the Property Operating Maintenance function within our organisation. Role Overview:
Responsible for the repairs, maintenance, upkeep and replacement of the property’s air-conditioning equipment in accordance with hotel standards. Will assist in other areas of Engineering as assigned.
Main Key Responsibilities:
- Action daily work assignments from supervisor on duty
- Organize materials, tools and equipment to perform daily assignments.
- Assess & rectify problems with refrigeration & air conditioning equipment as requested by supervisors & note any information needed or safety concerns in the hotel.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
- Maintain timelines and work schedule in accordance with the preventive maintenance program.
- Complete scheduled work in accordance with preventive maintenance program.
- Perform mechanical, electrical & plumbing services for efficient operation of the property's refrigeration & air conditioning equipment & systems to include but not limited to fan coil & air handling units, chillers, freezers (including walk-in freezers), refrigerators, cold bars and the like.
- Perform the Preventative Maintenance or replacement on refrigeration & Air conditioning equipment including but not limited to:
- Descaling & adjustment of probes.
- Sanitizing of rinsing and washing of coils
- Adjustment of controls, dampers
- Servicing of solenoid valves
- Calibration of thermostats.
- Cleaning of orifice and adjusting gas pressures.
- Detection & termination of gas & fluid leaks
- Bearings
- Filter cleaning & or replacement
- Prepare and complete any and all required logs, service requests, paperwork, etc.
- Maintain complete working knowledge of the latest techniques in refrigeration & air conditioning equipment installation, maintenance, replacement, or repair.
- Maintain the proper use, cleaning, maintenance, and storage of all tools.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work areas to include:
- Inventories
- Requisitions (receipt and storage)
- Trash removal
- Safely handle chemicals for designated uses/surfaces.
- Ensure security of any assigned keys.
- Perform maintenance services & or replacement of the property’s refrigeration & air conditioning auxiliary equipment and systems, which include but not limited to: compressors, motors, pumps, cooling towers, water treatment systems and the like
- Changes filter banks and maintain electrostatic filters according to schedule.
- Maintain complete working knowledge of the latest techniques in the electrical installation, maintenance, replacement or repair of HVAC services, fixtures and equipment.
- Exercise safety precautions when working on equipment (use of safety signs ect.)
- Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving. Review status of assignments and any follow-up actions with the Supervisor.
- Recommend energy saving ideas.
- Perform any other ancillary duties associated with this position as may be required by the Supervisor/Manager/Manager on duty.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of HVAC equipment.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
- Working knowledge of:
- Health codes
- Local mechanical codes
- Local fire codes
- Blueprints and wiring schematics
- Power and hand tools, meters, and other equipment used in the technical trades
- Ability to interpret manufacturers' instructions for the installation, preparation, use and upkeep of materials and products used throughout the property.
- Ability to operate high-reach lifts.
