BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the supervision of the Referrals Manager, the incumbent is responsible for expediting routine matters necessary to the daily operation of the Referrals Department.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides secretarial support to the Referrals Manager and other staff of the Referrals Department, by performing routine clerical and office functions.
  2. Develops and maintains a cohesive, team-oriented atmosphere with physicians, nurses, and ancillary
  3. Assists in the preparation of budgets and reports by assisting with department office supplies and
  4. Follows through on various program projects as assigned by the Referrals
  5. Organizes and maintains various files as directed by Referrals
  6. Drafts correspondence for
  7. Processes and files all incoming and outgoing department
  8. Records minutes for department and collaborative team
  9. Serves as a liaison between patients, offsite referral offices and SNHS Conducts follow-ups between referring providers' offices, patients, and insurance companies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associate's Degree in Office Administration or Business Administration is
  • 2 years of office management experience or related experience,
  • Public speaking and etiquette
  • Experience working in a mental health facility, hospital, medical center, outpatient health care setting, or Indian Health Service (IHS)/tribal health, preferred.

The Seneca Nation Health System (SNHS) is recognized as a non-profit public health organization and maintains a federal contract with Indian Health Services (IHS) under under the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (ISDEAA) of 1975 (public law 93-638 Title 1). SNHS was established in 1976 as a tribal program and has continuously provided ambulatory health care in the Allegany and Cattaraugus Territories.

The health care facilities offer programs developed under the public health model. These facilities are the Lionel R. John Health Center (LRJHC), the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation Health Center (CIRHC) and Community Health and Wellness Center (CHWC).

Health services are offered to those persons within the Purchased/Referred Care Services Delivery Area who are defined as eligible under federal and tribal guidelines. These services areas include the counties of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Niagara (excluding the Tonawanda and Tuscarora Territories) and Erie in New York and Warren County in Pennsylvania.

Our programs provide a full range of primary and preventive care for acute and chronic illness and injuries. In addition, we have service agreements with several local hospitals, professional groups and agencies for inpatient treatment and specialty care to round out our health programs.

The Lionel R. John Health Center and Cattaraugus Indian Reservation Health Center have been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home. And NCQA has also recognized the Diabetes Program at LRJHC.
