Job Description

Responsible for coordinating and managing patient referrals for specialty care, diagnostic testing, and ancillary services to ensure timely access to appropriate healthcare resources. This position serves as a liaison between patients, providers, insurance carriers, and external healthcare organizations, facilitating communication and continuity of care throughout the referral process. Obtains necessary authorizations, verifies insurance requirements, tracks referral completion, and maintains accurate documentation within the electronic health record (EHR). Working collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams, this role helps remove barriers to care, supports care coordination efforts, and contributes to positive patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills to include oral comprehension, oral expression, written comprehension, and written expression
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced, chaotic work environment.
  • Computer/PC experience with software knowledge or equivalent (e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, /e-mail program).
  • Previous experience and or background in insurance verification, medical terminology, HIPAA compliance, EHR systems preferred.
  • Outstanding public relations/customer service experience and presentation
  • High level of personal presentation
  • Ability to maintain accuracy with interruptions
  • Ability to use sound judgement and cope with potentially stressful situations
  • Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards for performance improvement and organizational values (e.g., efficiency & financial responsibility, safety, partnership & service, teamwork, compassion, integrity, and trust & respect).
