About the Role:

The Cybersecurity Academy is seeking an experienced Red Team Instructor to deliver high-quality, hands-on security training across its Red Stream curriculum.

This role is focused on developing and delivering practical, adversary-focused instruction aligned with real-world attack techniques, modern threat actor tradecraft, and structured learning outcomes.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical depth in offensive security with the ability to teach, mentor, and assess students in a structured academic environment. Experience in Capture-the-Flag (CTF) competitions, both as a participant and ideally as a challenge designer, is highly desirable.


Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instructor-led training across the Red Team curriculum, including theory, demonstrations, and hands-on labs
  • Teach and support students across the following subject areas:
    • Ethical Hacking & Offensive Security Fundamentals

    • Web Application Hacking

    • Active Directory (AD) Attacks & Lateral Movement

    • Wi-Fi & Wireless Network Attacks

    • Reverse Engineering Fundamentals

    • Penetration Testing Methodologies & Reporting

    • Command & Control (C2) Frameworks and Post-Exploitation

    • PowerShell for Offensive Operations

    • Database Attacks and Data Exfiltration Techniques

  • Design, develop, and maintain practical labs, virtual environments, and CTF-style challenges aligned to learning objectives.
  • Assess student performance through labs, practical exercises, quizzes, and exams
  • Mentor students during technical challenges, projects, and competitive exercise.
  • Ensure all instructional content reflects current tools, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) used by real-world adversaries
  • Collaborate with Academy leadership and other instructors to ensure curriculum alignment and quality assurance
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of course materials, tooling, and delivery methods

Tech Requirements:


Candidates should demonstrate strong hands-on experience in multiple areas of offensive security, including:

  • Strong understanding of common attack chains, from initial access through privilege escalation, lateral movement, persistence, and exfiltration
  • Experience using and explaining tools such as:
    • Burp Suite, Metasploit, Cobalt Strike or equivalents

    • BloodHound, Mimikatz, CrackMapExec, Impacket

    • Wi-Fi attack tools (e.g., aircrack-ng suite)

    • Reverse engineering tools (e.g., Ghidra, IDA Free, x64dbg)

  • Proficiency in PowerShell for offensive and post-exploitation use cases

  • Familiarity with modern C2 frameworks and red team infrastructure concepts
  • Strong understanding of penetration testing methodologies and reporting best practices

CTF & Practical Challenge Experience (Highly Desirable):

  • Prior participation in CTF competitions

  • Experience designing or maintaining CTF challenges, lab environments, or cyber range content

  • Ability to explain exploitation techniques clearly and guide students through problem-solving rather than providing direct solutions

Teaching & Professional Skills

  • Previous experience delivering technical training, workshops, or mentoring (formal teaching experience is an advantage but not mandatory)
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to learners at varying skill levels
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills

  • Structured, methodical approach to instruction and assessment

  • Professional, ethical approach to offensive security education

Certifications (Preferred):

One or more of the following certifications is preferred:

    • OSCP / OSCE / OSEP / OSED

    • CRTO / CRTO II

    • GPEN / GXPN

    • Others recognised offensive security or red team certifications

    Equivalent real-world experience will be considered in place of certifications.
